The urban population of Phoenix in 1940 was 215,000. Not sure where you got that smaller number from. Edit: 2:40 you switched the Salt River and Gila River. The Salt River is the northern branch that goes through Phoenix. Edit 2: You should read Wikipedia articles before referencimg info from them. The historic flow of the Salt River was nearly 900 cfs (25 m^3/s), and rhe discharge of the Gila River at the confluence south of Good year was 1,800 cfs (50 m^3/s), enough to supply most of modern Phoenix's water demands.

@mimble hottest I ever experienced when I lived in Queen Creek was 120. That kind if heat is just mind boggling.
