Something worth noting is that conifers are substantially more fire-resistant and dependent and therefore do well in sub-tropical and tropical environments (like Indonesia or Florida), where fires are frequent.

We have a similar effect here in Florida. The Gulf usually stays clear during the day, but becomes cloudy and full of thunderstorms at night and in the morning. On land, the opposite happens and we get very large and powerful thunderstorms almost every day (at around 3-5 pm) during the summer.

The only other place I can think of with a climate like this is Cleveland, Ohio.and Erie, Pennsylvania. You have a humid-subtropical climate, but total 60-100 inches of snow annually.

That USGS map is also idiotic because pythons can't survive in arid regions. Everything west of San Antonio, Texas is either too dry for pythons or it is blocked by an arid wall of desert. There is zero chance that pythons could ever get west of the Rio Grande.

Another contender for the wettest is the Alaskan Temperate rainforest, which may receive as much as 15 meters of rain water equivalent precipitation annually.

I absolutely love summer. Nothing better than all the greenery, taking a swim in a cool lake, river, beach, or spring when it is hot outside, or sleeping under a tree with the warm breeze. Absolutely sublime. I do love the cold too though. Snow is one of my favorite experiences.
