@OKnotOK09 "Childcare is wildly expensive" Then instead of paying someone else, how about you raise your own children or form co-ops like literally every society in human history has done? "and the cost of living means you need a dual income." If living includes needing 4 times as much living space as a typical person had 100 years ago and having subscriptions to three streaming services, then sure, it's more expensive. If you don't mind living frugally like every human being to ever live before you have, then living is extremely cheap and there's no reason, outside of extreme circumstance that you need two incomes (especially considering the welfare systems we have today).

Having children has always been expensive; this isn't new. The thing is... we're vastly richer than our grandparents are.

You should probably start by finding someone who's actually committed to you. If you've been with someone for seven years and you're still calling them your "partner" rather than your spouse, they have no commitment to you (vise versa), and you're wasting your time and energy. Either you need to change and finally commit, or you need to ditch and find someone who would actually commit to you.
