  12.  @jasonduke3608  The statue is a national monument because we made it one. The ship was built, funded, owned, and run by the US government. It was a legend and the pride of America until Apollo 11. It's one of the greatest feats of nautical engineering in all of history. The only reason it isn't a monument is because the US government abandoned it. If the statue of Liberty or USS Texas can be a monument, so can this. The federal government spends 4500 billion dollars every year - thats 1 billion dollars every 2 hours. If we can dish out a billion dollars every 120 minutes, we can dish out a billion in the course of 10 years to restore an American legend.
