@grantm902 Have you looked at the state of European defense programs lately? The only advanced ones are using US technology. European parliaments, filled with Karens and shopkeepers with low-T levels, have wasted your fruits on socialist programs that don’t work, while neglecting defense as a given policy. If you talk with any senior military staff in Europe, they are treated like second-class citizens by parliaments in many cases, begging for basic budgetary requests to keep things barely functioning. In 2022, that ceased in one nation, namely Germany. Their 60 billion Euro budget immediately jumped to 100 Billion, which made the rest of the continent who studied basic history start thinking about how this is all going to play out. When talking about US military performance, you might want to look at Desert Storm instead of insurgencies.

@GeoEstes The economy is fine? Have you been to a grocery store lately? Have you tried qualifying for a mortgage? Auto loan? Every look at rents lately? Makes me think you’re not in the US economy when I see statements like this.

@honved1 US economy doesn’t rely on exports, even though the US is the 2nd largest exporter in the world and will likely move back into #1 as China collapses. US economy self-sustains in all the critical areas (land, energy, food, transportation, housing, employment) and imports a lot from other nations all over the world for luxuries/nice-to-haves. As the world destabilizes, there is more and more demand for US finance, US technology, weapons, energy, and all our value-added products.

@GeoEstes I do support controlling access to the US residential real estate market for US home-buyers, not foreign investment sharks and Wall Street kleptocrats like Black Rock. We’re seeing these huge multi-billion dollar companies parking investor money into residential real estate, depriving actual home-buyers of the opportunity to buy a home. So yeah, we do need government intervention in that space. That’s an economic and popular political position, not partisan or ideological.

Healthcare and Immigration come up next at 33% & 28%, with crime at 24%. 48% of voters said they are worse-off than 3 years ago. 29% said they were better-off, with 22% saying about the same. 44% said their financial position has worsened in the last year. These are all numbers that point to a turnover and ouster of the incumbent. Things that can sway in the favor of the incumbent would be a great military campaign, but Biden has been the weakest since Carter, actually making Carter look good in that respect. These are lose metrics for Biden, which supports the assessment that Trump will win in Nov.

@scabberdoug Trump is the only US President to have had US military forces unleash a 6-hour bombardment of Russian soldiers in Syria when they attacked a very small contingent of US Special Operations personnel and Kurds. Trump also crushed the Russian economy with low energy prices in the US, bringing oil down to $20-40/bbl, not because he wanted to hurt poor Russia, but because he placed the US as his #1 priority, unlike previous Presidents. Russia’s economy can’t grow without oil over $100/bbl since they have almost no value-added products. Look at who funneled millions of dollars into the Hunter and James B----- family over the past few decades. What was Brandon’s first move in office? Kill the Keystone pipeline to get oil back up to over $100 a barrel. It took Putin a year to build up for the invasion of Ukraine after that, under B---n’s watch.

@Anthony-db7cs America has more assets and security than all of Europe ever could hope for. The only time in European history where they was an extended period of peace was when the US occupied and maintained the security apparatus for almost 50 years, from 1945-1990s. It was broken when the genocide began in Serbia. Between the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871 and the Great War of 1914, there were 31 different wars, conflicts, and uprisings in Europe just for reference. Dating back to the Roman Empire, Europe has always been in-conflict. Your best years were because of the US and none other.

@GeoEstes Your definition of a fine economy and that of the voters is entirely different. #1 concern for voters in all the polling is the economy. People who have held down high-paying jobs for 18-20 years who can’t qualify for a home loan is not indicative of a fine economy. $8 cereal and $4 gas are not good indicators either. Avg used car price hit over $31k. Median household income necessary for a home loan jumped from the $67k to $115k in Oct 2023. These are all recipes for a loss for the incumbent in any election, especially on top of all the foreign policy failures, lack of charisma, and daily weakness demonstrated by this WH.

@Anthony-db7cs Yup. Geography is destiny, but the internal conflicts between Western Europeans like England, Span, France, and Prussia/Germany have been going on for centuries as well. I’m from both since my mom is from Finland, but my dad is US-born from a long line of Americans dating back to the Revolution and the British Isles. I’ve lived all over both continents in many US States and Nations, so I tend to see things much differently than people who have only lived in the US or Europe.

Where did you get the idea that the Italians and Irish didn’t maintain their identities? They became the core of waves of organized crime, which with the Irish saw politics as a way for survival, and for the Italians, organized crime as a way to buy the politicians and judges. Both groups factor strongly in the US political class as a result, continuing the illegal occupation of the US Congress and Judiciary, as well as steering the Presidential elections dating back to at least FDR. Look down the list of US members of Congress, the Senate, the Speakerships, and SCOTUS. It’s like reading a Scorsese cast for a mob movie.

@outrageddeer2101 Separatist pilgrims from minorities within the Puritan sect fled to America to survive, followed by Quakers, Anglicans, and eventually Catholics who chased them down anyway. With the waves of Irish displaced persons from the famines, a large contingent of Irish Catholics took hold of the eastern seaboard cities and Chicago, rising into US politics. The Italians came later in waves with immigration reform in 1903, along with Sicilian and Russian gangsters. Puritans and separatists came there to get away, and were followed by the hordes of people that persecuted them in them Europe.

@krisdaschwab912 Brexit is one of the better things that the UK people decided on, not any one particular party, but it still might have been too late judging on who rules the UK now. You’re going to see waves of mini civil wars in Europe based on the new fatwas and Middle Easter crusades against native Europeans. The main thing the UK has going for it is a tight alliance with the US.

@jmhorange Michigan couldn’t be more insulated from Gaza. There has been conflict in that region for generations. Michiganders actually care about: * Economy * Immigration * Threats to the electoral process * Health care * Housing affordability * Education * Crime Foreign policy is nowhere on their top priority list. This is from a recent Emerson College poll in February among Michigan voters. Trump is leading in that poll and has done so since January.

@jmhorange I'm just pointing out what the majority of your neighbors in MI care about, and it isn't Gaza. I spent my whole career in Defense and foreign policy, but I will be blowing nothing but hot air talking to my neighbors about Gaza, Ukraine, South Korea, Japan, Iran, NATO, etc. I've spent a good portion of my life stationed in Europe, South Korea, and the Middle East. That means nothing to Americans who can't buy a house, have to cut back on groceries, and can't afford to replace their used cars with another used car.

The problem is they don't have the security apparatus to defend any of these projects, and overland trade routes cost far more than shipping. They are vulnerable to importing 85% of their energy from the Persian Gulf (mostly Saudis), but think they can eventually transport Saudi oil through Iran? Belt & Road looks like a plan drawn by a mongoloid with a crayon on the map, who thought everything was relatively flat.

@kevinxu3892 China is trying to establish alternative trade hubs around the world to counter US dominance of the trade routes, because the US could cut off access to energy and food imports quite easily. China has adopted the policy of biting the hands that fed them all these years post-Nixon, by attacking their main export market with a People’s War directed against the US. The US responded by pulling businesses out of China, imposing tariffs on China, and re-shoring US industries away from China. Yes, China is ripe with systemic corruption across the provinces dating back 2 thousand years, but the foreign policy is controlled by Emperor Xi, who wiped out any competition for the throne during his long rule. Nobody wants to disappear, so they are quickly conforming with Xi’s edicts.

Puritans wanted to get away from all of that mess, but it followed them and their children to America anyway and still ruins things to this day in US politics. 8 of the SCOTUS justices are Jesuits, and 1 is a Russian J3w. No Puritans or Protestants exist on the US SCOTUS.

The loyalists to Mafia who are selected for public office are so disproportionately represented in the Congress and SCOTUS, that both look like casts to mob films, regardless of political party. Look at CIA Directors, SECDEFs, ATF, and other administrative state entities not mentioned anywhere in the Constitution. @saftsuparn3222 Americans are far more focused on the economy because of inflation and housing prices. Gas and energy costs have gone up, and home prices are out of reach from people who should be buying their first homes instead of renting. The media lies about everything and hides the actual sentiment of the voters. The median household income in the US can’t afford to buy a home now, whereas they had excess money to buy homes and were surging during Trump’s Presidency. Gas prices were at record lows during Trump’s Presidency. Energy and food were affordable, and people easily qualified for mortgages and auto loans. Now we are at 40 year lows in purchasing power for energy, homes, food, and cars. The last thing on a person’s mind in the US when they go to the grocery store is what’s going on in Ukraine. People are struggling.

@GeoEstes I communicate with my friends and neighbors daily in our neighborhood and across the State, as well as other States. It isn’t an isolated problem that all Americans are concerned about the economy. I have friends who have worked for 18-20 years in tech and can’t afford to buy a house. They paid all their bills, held down high-end jobs all this time, and the prices walked away from them, along with interest rates. We have 3 incomes just to try to tread water and all our major items are paid-off long ago. We have no mortgage or auto loans and we’re shopping at discount stores for immigrants and thrift stores. Looking for more work every day. The common theme from all my friends is, “I couldn’t afford my own home if I were trying to buy it today. These are engineers, programmers, programming team managers, managers, well into their careers."

We need strength and an intimidating military, not weakness and treason with family members running shell companies all over the place for laundering money from our enemies. No matter what metric you look at, Biden is a big loser just from a dispassionate perspective. Also, most polls are done via email and text nowadays, not land lines. The polling agencies have shifted to modern comms.
