I agree with that. I hate going to different places in the US and seeing a string of Wal-Mart, Costco, fast food, etc. instead of regional and local markets with their own unique identity. Same when I'm abroad. The last place I want to see is McDonald's.

@bp8220 In academia, you see a lot of abstract mantra from polysci professors who don't even know geography, history, or demographics. They just know political dogma designed to generate partisan or ideological division, reinforcing their own beliefs.

Big questions for Ukraine are, where do they get gas to sustain the fight? How do they support the food distribution network to over 35 million people (after 8 million have left as refugees)? The long-term campaign has some serious obstacles to overcome. Imagine a population roughly the size of California with many of the cities turned into rubble, cut off from the ocean except for 1 seaport now.

Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Syria, Iran, Yemen, Lebanon, Libya, Algeria, and Tunisia are already suffering from food import shortages before Russia invaded Ukraine. Egypt went to the IMF again begging for another IMF bailout so they can afford to buy wheat from other sources, now that Russia and Ukraine aren’t exporting to them. Zeihan’s forecasts are already happening before our eyes, with no coherent reporting on it from the legacy presstitute corporate whores.

They spend disproportionately on military equipment that would normally be spent on domestic programs and infrastructure. Russia has always been weak in those areas, and then expands and contracts in those spaces based on blowing their resources on military, which then causes internal political-economic collapse inward. After each collapse, they rebuild the military and then go take back those places at great loss, hold them for a while at great financial and resource costs, then collapse again. This has been true despite Czars, Soviets, or Kleptocrats. We're just watching the latest expansion campaign.

Quality of living, food production, sanitation, and infrastructure has gotten much better overall as the population increased and priven solutions were distributed globally.

@Joe Population is already contracting among younger ages. Baby Boomers are all retiring and dying. They were the biggest generation in recorded history. Infertility, family planning, infanticide, and low birth rates have already sent many nations into demographic winter. The population bomb is a myth.

One of the current plans is to re-build Ukraine similar to the Marshall Plan, assuming Russia is defeated. It's hard to imagine Russia backing down from a continued campaign to cut off Ukraine from the Black Sea, so we have serious conflicting interests in the region where neither side can allow the other to make gains. The US and Europe can't afford to have this spill outside of Ukraine. Putin can't afford to let Ukraine wreck his military week-after-week, month-after-month. Something has to give somewhere.

@BrjanBuckmaster Human activity is not causing changes in global temps. The science just isn't there, but all the people who don't care to study the science just go along with the alarmism because of the emotional angle that has been sold to them.

Climate always changes, ebbs and flows with ups and downs throughout history. CO2 is an essential gas for human, animal, and plant life. These criminals have convinced people that CO2 is somehow harmful. It's one of the most ludicrous scams ever perpetrated on the US and Europe.
