@alastairnewman1233 I see the opposite, having lived throughout that region and studied Russia since the 1970s. Mearsheimer comes across as the typical University of Chicago apologist professor with zero ground truth experience, intoxicated on the scent of his and other faculty flatulence, without even understanding that they have been fed Soviet propaganda for decades within the institutions specifically for times like this. I would love to debate him. It would not go down like this. So many false premises in this chat.

The only relevant and accurate thing that stood out to me Mearsheimer let slip was Senator Obama's role in supporting the Russians in the 1990s on the tail-end of Nunn-Lugar, but instead of being focused on the nuclear disarmament intent of that agreement, he was focused on taking away Ukraine's conventional, much-needed artillery shells. There's a photo of Senator Obama visiting a warehouse filled with shells from that era. Obama, Biden, Clintons, and Mearsheimer....all on the side of Russia, gunning for the enemy to win against their neighbors. I wouldn't expect anything less from University of Chicago.

I'm 7:41 in and have identified multiple flaws in Meersheimer's premises. He comes across as a marxist professor who grew up in a co-opted university environment where professors were agitated and informed by the Soviets. Did they say University of Chicago.

Learning the ground truth is hard, takes many decades, and mustn't be filtered through any bureaucracy. NSA, DIA, FBI, etc. had him under surveillance for years even into the WH when he was Deputy WH Counsel in 1993. Obama was raised as a Soviet mole from infancy, helped Russia on the tail-end of Nunn-Lugar to disarm Ukraine in the 1990s of conventional weapons like the much-needed artillery shells, and munitions that had nothing to do with Nunn-Lugar. It's one thing Mearsheimer mentioned in this interview that sticks out and exposes who he supports (Russia vs Ukraine). Biden was supposed to extract Zelensky from Kiev within the first 3 days so Kiev would be open for occupation by the Belorussian and northern border-staged SMO forces. This was going to go down like a typical Soviet occupation where political subterfuge acts as a precursor to occupation. Zelensky didn't play along. Biden and Putin got left with a huge nightmare on their hands, because EU/NATO reacted opposite of expectations with Zelensky still intact, begging for weapons. Interesting times....

What's more important is what Trump did to the Russian economy, military, and how Putin didn't invade Ukraine under Trump's leadership. Trump drove oil prices down so low, that Russia's economy couldn't grow. They need over $100/barrel to grow. Oil was down to less than $40/barrel under Trump. What was the first thing Biden did? Kill Keystone. Keystone would have been amazing for US and Canada and our allies. Who paid for Biden's Senate campaign in 1972? Why did Senator Obama work to disarm Ukraine of conventional weapons? Why did Obama refuse to help arm Ukraine? Who was the first US President to actually send arms to Ukraine and threaten Putin?

@Blanka1100 Trump armed Ukraine after Obama refused. Trump crushed Russia's oil economy by lowering energy prices dramatically, and then he threatened Putin not to invade Ukraine or else... Putin didn't invade Ukraine during Trump's Presidency. He did it first under Obama, then spent a year building up Russia's economy under Biden energy policy, which raised gas prices way up and helped Russia's profitability. Once Russia had another year of build-up, Putin staged those forces for the invasion and had a green light from Biden. Biden's job was to pull Zelensky out of Kiev so Putin could quickly take Ukraine with a limited, lightning-fast "Special Military Operation". Zelensky refused to get on the plane Biden sent, and instead asked for weapons and supplies from NATO. Biden is a traitor, has been since 1972. Look at all the Russian and Chinese money Hunter and James have brought in for "the big guy".

This has been thoroughly investigated for years by people who hate Trump and they came up with nothing but the Steele Dossier, which was fabricated by Russians for the Clinton campaign. The Clintons have been on Russian payroll for decades dating back to when Bill was Governor of Arkansas. Putin paid $363 million into Clinton Global Initiative in order to get uranium mining rights in the Uranium One deal when Hillary was SECSTATE. In every single one of these cases, we have known money trails between Russia, China, and the Clintons. Putin "knew" Hillary would be elected and was looking forward to a Clinton WH where US energy would be suppressed, raising Russian revenue for the full invasion of Ukraine, annexation of Moldova, and invasion of Poland and Finland. Trump ruined Putin's plans significantly just by turning the faucet on with US energy independence, let alone threatening Putin about Ukraine. The conversation with Zelensky was about how Biden threatened to withhold $1 Billion of US Aid from Poroshenko after Putin's puppet, Yanukovych was thrown out by the people in 2014, followed immediately by Hunter Biden getting on the board of Burisma. Burisma was being pilfered by Putin for years under Yanukovych and Zlochevsky, a Donbas region Russian loyalist. Biden openly bragged about coercing Poroshenko to fire Viktor Shokin, who was investigating all of this. Everything you're being told in the corporate media is backwards from reality. I can tell your information is coming from the likes of CNN and MSNNBC, not ground truth like mine, from living in the region and studying the history of Putin for the past 23 years.

@frankgarofalo2653 Many of the weapons are coming from NATO countries in Europe, while Biden drags his feet and billions in aid money go missing. As of Feb 23, 2023, the US spent over $76.4 billion, but some of it is unaccounted for. That's more than the defense budgets of most of the top 10 nations in the world.

Mearsheimer is from Univ of Chicago, strongly in the camp for support of Russia. He's a traitor to free people and any neighbors of Russia, either compromised by weak academic rigor or Soviet ideological warfare that took hold in Uof Chicago long ago. He very accurately let slep Senator Obama's role in disarming Ukraine for Russia back in the 1990s, but presented that as a good thing.

All he would need to do would be to tell Putin that he'll make sure Novorossisyk is annihilated, eliminating 95% of Russia's exports. Notice that Russia didn't do squat when Trump was in the WH. Trump oversaw the annihilation of Russian Wagner mercenaries in Syria at the Battle of Khasham.
