The US, Canada, and Mexico are unique in that we're food and energy independent. We will just have to pay more, but at least it will be an option.

@vipulgupta Canada is the world’s largest producer of potash (14 million MT) and the US is the largest arable farmland and 9th largest potash producer, with longer harvest seasons than any other place on the planet due to being in the temperate zone. The US also has a very diverse crop base across the 48 States, from everything in CA to blueberries and lobsters in Maine, peanuts and oranges in the Deep Southeast to the vastness of the Mississippi basin, hordes of cattle, poultry, hogs, fish, wheat, rice, beans, etc. There really isn’t anything like the US in the world when it comes to food, farmland, minerals, and having a connected network to easily distribute those resources. This isn’t patriotic banter, but just the ground truth.

If you try to understand all of this through an ideological myopia, the truth will escape you. It is more simple in some ways, complex in others. Global energy and food costs have been inflated due to reduction in supply over the last 2.5 years. Russia and Ukraine are huge wheat exporters to other nations in North Africa, Middle East, and Asia, so now that they've cut exports, nations who were already hurting got hit again with energy and food shortages. This is going to be way worse than 2010 when Russia had fires.

@ahmedawoleke3934 China liberated themselves did they? Go back and study some history more. Specifically look at Japanese empire forces occupation of Manchuria. US inherited the policing of the trade routes after the British Empire reached its peak during WWII, and then went into decline. The US never asked for this or planned it. It just is how the vacuum of power was filled, and as a result, the world has been lifted into a better place of exchange of goods and services without regions being bullied by adventurist dictators...until now.

China has Russia where they want them. It's a case of 2 of the biggest bribers manipulating their puppet Biden. Russia put immediate pressure by having Biden kill Keystone and cut US domestic energy independence, which was killing Russia's economy already with extremely low oil prices. Russia invades Ukraine, so China covertly supports sanctions on Russian grain and energy, so they can then negotiate the prices down with Putin to suck up everything Russia has to sell that most other nations refuse to buy. The long-term risk is to stable energy prices. Chinese economy can't grow on expensive oil/NG, so now everyone has to reap the consequences of a weak traitor in the White House being fought over by 2 rival Eurasian power players.

@katonoamuza3072 China is on China's side. The pact with Russia is temporary. China prefers Russia to be weaker, now that China has had decades of tech transfer from the US and Europe, and sees how inferior Russian military tech is to the West's. China will use the current crisis to negotiate better energy and grain deals, now that Russia is being sanctioned. They had deals in-place prior to the invasion and waited for the Olympics to finish before Putin launched.

I found US Patent and Trade Office filings for coronavirus gain of threat research dating back to 2002, with Dr. Baric as one of the researchers and applicants for the patents. There’s a timeline from 1999-2019 where Fauci, NIH, DARPA, BARDA, etc. were involved with weaponizing bat coronaviruses. Dr. Peter Daszak also mentioned the need for public awareness and acceptance of coronavirus vaccine in 2015, where investors would get on board once they see profits at the end.

The Healthcare program for poorer people in the US, Medicare, has a bigger budget than the entire defense budget. It's over $810 Billion. Most Americans have their own Healthcare plans. The US is the largest economy in the world, 2nd largest exporter, with exports only amounting to 15% of US GDP. That's how the US has so much money to help other nations.

Xi is eyeball-deep in this. He's getting record energy contracts locked in with Putin, who can't sell to as many people as before. Same with importing grain from Russia. Both Russians and Chinese have been bribing the Biden, Obama, Clinton, and Bush families for the past 50 years.

That’s the only “Chinese military victory” in hundreds of years. US Navy patrols the Strait of Malacca, South China Sea, Horn of Africa, Suez Canal, etc. to maintain stability of the trade routes. Imagine the South China Sea with no US Navy. Have you even studied Chinese maritime crimes? Chinese fishing boats have been caught illegally fishing as far as South America. Ask the Japanese, Filipinos, Australians, Indonesians, Vietnamese, Burmese, etc. how they feel about unrestricted Chinese maritime activities.

This has been a thing in China since the 1600s, after they got foods that could grow in mountainous regions from the Americas during the age of Spanish expansion. The crops make the elevated soil unstable, which turns into mudslides during monsoon or rainy seasons, which then flows down to the high population density regions and destroys homes. Chinese emperors have been overthrown due to this problem, but people just don't know their own history.

Russia invades Ukraine...US MIC gets blamed by usual suspects. China begins negotiating cheap wheat, barley, corn, oil, NG with sanctioned Russia left with few buyers. China gets rock-bottom prices and long-term oil/NG deals from Russia.

I think a lot of the elite older families get tired of competing for space at the yacht harbor, exclusive restaurants, and private jet ramps, so now is the time for a little shake-up of the board. Knock down the medium sized business owners back into their spaces as peasants.

Not sure where you've been but while you were out, a global energy crisis just kicked-off, on top of supply chain shortages and artificial pressure to shut down power plants. Then the 1st largest wheat exporter invaded the 4th largest in February, and is firing incendiary rounds at their crops as we speak.

@m.s.5914 Ukraine has been struggling to get out from Russian control for the better part of the last 850 years. Ukrainians had Russian puppet Presidents up until Yanukovych in 2014, who was forced out with the Euromaiden revolution. Ukrainians wanted to join EU to exchange their goods and services for Euros, not Rubles. Yanukovych signed Putin's economic union CIS pact, which is what really caused such a revolt. Yanukovych had to flee Ukraine in Feb 2014 back to Putin in Russia. Then Putin activated more false flag Special units in Ukraine to attack ethnic Russians in Donbas region, as a pretext for invasion. Russia can't afford for Ukraine to be independent and trade with whomever they want, because Ukraine is Russia's access to the sea, oil pipelines run through there, military industry critical to Russia is in Ukraine, and Ukraine is a massive exporter of wheat, barley, and corn in competition with Russia.

@domitravel795 You are on track with that. China also gets to lock-in long term energy deals with Russia at low prices, while buying banned Russian grains at discounted prices. Chinese economy can't grow with expensive energy and food. We'll see how long the deals last. Russians and Chinese are some of the worst negotiators in the world, so it will be interesting to see how Putin and the Oligarchs manage getting bent over by China.

@kristinejackson8268 The US market is always the safest place to park money and invest during times like these though, in addition to most other global market cycles. No regional rivals exist on US borders or territorial waters. US is also the biggest economy with stability. Eurozone, Russia, and China just became destabilized overnight, with China having the most opportunity to grow if they stick to trade and no war. Russia has the most to lose, followed by Europe. Germany just announced an increase to €100 Billion in defense spending, almost doubling their defense budget. Think about what that means for Europe....

@Username But then China opens the door for unrestricted naval warfare on every single Chicom-flagged vessel. That includes shipping, fishing, and military. China can't afford that, so their best strategy is to just continue making trade deals beneficial to China, while appearing to be scary.

@Metal Force Su-34 Fullback multirole strike fighters aren't old equipment. That's one of the newest tactical aircraft in VVS inventory. All their tactical aircraft have undergone modernization upgrades since Putin came into power, after he emphasized re-building the nuclear forces with help from the Clintons, Obamas, and Bidens (Uranium One). Russians just suck at planning, logistics, contingencies, and execution of large military operations. Their expeditionary operations into Afghanistan, Chechnya, and Georgia were all dismal. Ukraine is way better equipped than all 3 of those nations combined.

@MrChowbaby69 What's the difference between VDV, Spetsnaz, or conscripts if you're being targeted by UAVs, Javelins, NLAWs, or Ukrainian ATGMs? The weapons don't know or care if you have 15 years in the army, or 6 months conscription. Old MTOE vs modern force-multipliers are nothing but targets.

@m.s.5914 I have a good friend whose uncle was in the Russian Foreign Minister's office in the 2000s, not sure if he's still there. Anyway, he ran his mouth bragging back then that after Putin came into power, they would take Ukraine, Baltics, Finland, Poland, Romania, Moldova, etc. Control over Ukraine is an existential imperative for Russia, and after Ukraine kicked out Yanukovych, the writing was on the wall.

The US lifted the Russian MIC out of the medieval times with Lend-Lease. Also keep in mind that Russia had just fought a lengthy civil war between patriotic nationalists vs demonic apostate communists, then executed a genocidal campaign against Ukraine with the Holodomor. Russia absolutely sucked in the defense, counter-attack, and offense. Their comms sucks, at least what I've heard of it. They use officers to do maintenance on aircraft since they don't trust or train conscripts in it. That results is poor sortie generation rates. Even with that, they have lost a lot of fixed wing TACAIR so far, to include 3 Su-34s, lots of Su-25s, and Su-30s.

@barneycasting8331 If you do an economic, agricultural, and industrial analysis of the US, you'll see what I'm talking about. A lot of people who don't study any relevant metrics start to believe that because a country has a name, a flag, a capitol city, and some kind of economy, it levels well with everyone else. This is far from reality. A basic geographic study of the US will show you how unique it is compared to the rest of the world. Then look at demographics, agriculture, rail, highways, airports, sea ports, refineries, scores of huge cities and industrial centers all over the various US regions. There is nothing like it on the planet.
