@fiddlefolk Mafia hitmen and soldiers were recruited into the FBI and OSS during the War. The Mafia guys were of European descent, had regional orientation from multiple trips back and forth laundering money and going into hiding in Sicily, Italy, France, etc. They also had real-world skill sets from actual wet works for the Families, smuggling illicit products, bribing police/mayors/judges/politicians, and dealing with the gears of society. They were almost perfect for FBI and OSS work. The Mafia soldiers who stayed in the OSS became "original gangsters" in CIA when it was formed in 1947. The CIA also had roughly 200 Soviet double agents planted in the OSS at the end of the war.

@kxkxkxkx Oswald wanted to be a US spy since he was a kid. He joined Byrd's CAP as a cadet, was very academic and well-read, then joined the Marines and gained TS-SCI clearance with direct access to the TS U-2 program flying out of Atsugi in Japan. The Soviets did run brothels for US servicemen in Japan though, so it isn't far-fetched that Oswald would have been approached or honey trap attempts made on him while in Japan. There are conflicting reports from people very close to him about his Russian language proficiency. Some say he was barely conversational, while others say he sounded like a native of Minsk, which is very odd.

Mockingbird was co-oped by the soviets out of the gate. It was started by Frank Wisner in CIA to counter the Soviet IOJ, because the IOJ was killing us in the propaganda game. Since the Soviets had an army of doubles already in the CIA, they took control over Mockingbird and turned it against the US and our allies. A core objective of the Soviets was to demoralize US society with our own media, using journalists and academic professors in the universities, to teach that America is fundamentally evil and immoral, and that Marxism-Leninism is the way forward.

@montydaniels1054 Frank Wisner was tasked with heading up MOCKINGBIRD to counter the Soviet IOJ, which was based out of Prague. IOJ was nothing but a Soviet propaganda front, disguised as Western Journalism. The US was getting whipped on the propaganda front, so the WH and CIA were very motivated to counter the Soviets. The problem was, the Soviets already had at least 200 doubles who were recruited by the NKVD at the end of the War during the OSS days, many of whom became key inside the Gehlen Org and CIA. Lots of former Nazi Intel officers, assets, and Belorussians who claimed to be Russian nationalists, along with resistance fighters and refugees. When Wisner was tasked with heading MOCKINGBIRD, the Soviets were aware of it, and gloved it within CIA, turned it against the US and NATO from within the US media. That's how we got Walter Cronkite, Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings, and Anderson Cooper types. ABC, CBS, NBS, PBS, Time magazine, newspapers, and universities were filled with Soviet agitprop, demoralization, and anti-US sentiment.

@keitharterburn8593 It's weird because in the Trump 2017 doc dump, eye witnesses saw and heard Oswald and Ruby in Key West, FL discussing what "big Bird" wanted. Byrd is also the founder of the CAP. Oswald, Ferrie, and Barry Seal were all in CAP down in Louisiana in the 1950s. Ferrie was a Squadron Commander if I recall. Oswald was just a cadet. After Ruby and Oswald had the conversation in Key West, Oswald boarded a plane "to go pick sugar cane" in Cuba.

@zenmeister451 He insisted on having Connally in front of him in the limo, who would be an insurance policy since he was LBK's long-time corrupt buddy in Texas politics. LBJ and JFK were yelling at each other at the top of their lungs the night before about it. LBJ didn't want Connally in the Presidential limo for some reason that was important enough for him to get into a shouting match with the President.

@tubamirum007 He was more likely ONI, since ONI told the HSCA they destroyed their records on him prior to them being subpoenaed to testify. ONI could have OPCON'd him to infiltrate the CIA's Cuban mission out of New Orleans, who then moved him to Dallas under the Dallas Russians like George de Mohrenschildt (OSS/CIA Russian-born emigré, who was likely a Soviet double). Oswald was debriefed in Rotterdam on his return trip from Minsk. He taped his diaries to his chest and legs on the trip back, so they couldn't be confiscated in normal luggage searches through customs. Hoover send a memo to ONI and DCI Directors asking about this when he heard Oswald, the defector, was allowed to come back into the US without being detained. FBI was tracking his every move as well due to how suspicious his behavior was. To me, it looks like he might have been spying on the CIA/Mafia plot to assassinate JFK.

The Bureau was wrong from the start. Very strange history wrapped up in Mafia/Organized crime. Bonaparte Hoover/Tolson Meyer Lansky Look at SACs and ASACs, or this guy and other whistle-blowers' last names. They're tied to the OG families of NYC and The National Crime Syndicate.
