@oldmanian How about don’t urinate in a restaurant or any business parking lot, for starters. The suspect didn’t have any respect for the law or common decency and thought he could just get out and piss all over.

Do you really think Gomez would not have still had a firearm in his vehicle that his 12yr-old relative had access to? This isn’t about guns. It’s about a criminal who pulled into a Sonic, decided to take a piss in the parking lot, was confronted by one of the employees, escalated into a physical altercation, then his 12yr-old relative escalated it further with a firearm and murdered the Sonic employee, shooting him in the back. This would have been true whether it was a pistol, .30-30 lever action, or shotgun.

@trollbbqer1267 If you’re talking about Gomez, he’s both the one who urinated and facilitated the murder, then ran off with the firearm obstructing justice. When we hear more about the details, I won’t be surprised if he told the kid to shoot.

@TheHauntedKiwi I agree with that, and that is already the law. A good case in point would be Columbine. Klebold and Harris illegally acquired their firearms from straw buyers and a friend who sold them some of the weapons, knowing fully they weren’t allowed to have them. By the way, none of those firearms were covered by the Clinton Assault Weapons ban, which was in effect at the time. Same for the Virginia Tech murderer. He used handguns, killed 33 and injured 23. In the Beslan school massacre, they used military weapons and explosives, murdered 333 people, injured 783. None of those firearms were legal to possess.

@trollbbqer1267 Your argument is that because of a tiny fraction of the population killing people and committing violent acts, the other 334 million should be disarmed. That would dramatically increase crime by making the innocent entirely vulnerable to more assaults.

@Matt_Nguyen We might learn during the trials that Gomez ordered him to shoot, after Gomez escalated the confrontation into a physical altercation. Gomez is really the one who bears the responsibility here because of all of his actions, starting with him pissing in the parking lot.

@josephconner3742 Shotguns and sidearm absolutely are weapons used in war. They were standard issue weapons in every combat arms unit tasked with kicking in doors over the past 20 years. Shotguns were used in trench warfare dating back to at least The Great War. Sidearms have been standard issue to officers, machinegunners, and SOF for decades.
