  2.  @SignalCorps1  Designed failure nodes are critical for the big 3 to keep their dealerships at legacy profitability models. Increased reliability=decreased service department volume, (where not fixing the problems is becoming more and more the norm as the older mechanics retire). Asking the big 3 to increase reliability is asking them to shoot themselves in the crotch. They don't give a rip about reliability/resale, and focus more on styling, immediately trying new and unproven motors, transmissions, and flashy tech to attract customers who make decisions based on appearance and features, not any awareness of reliability.
