@SignalCorps1 Everyone thought it would be over in a month, with an occupation and resistance scenario afterwards. This was predicated on Biden extracting Zelensky from Kiev, but Zelensky didn't play along with Putin's plan.

I know some Finnish armor officers who were tasked with going to East Germany after the collapse, to buy T-72s. They inspected a whole stadium worth of T-72s, and picked out 2 of them that were serviceable. They paid for them and gave the East Germans the shipping instructions. A few weeks later, the entire stadium worth of tanks rolled in on the train. They pulled the tanks they had marked and a few spares, then sent the rest up into the Arctic Circle to Oulu for the smelter and centrifuge. By the way, the East Germans maintained their equipment better than any of the SSRs, very by-the-book army that took their jobs seriously, unlike drunken Russians.

@TheVeritas2100 Theft, skimming, and corruption are the normal ways of doing business. Shoigu has skimmed 25% of the defense budget. It's a privilege for Czars and Boyars, as long as you don't steal upwards. Generals have stolen the basic Central issue Facility uniforms, equipment, and gear that is to be issued to mobilized soldiers. They are then told to go buy it in a store owned by the General's relative. This is normal in Russia, just how things work day-to-day.

@TheVeritas2100 T-54/55 uses a 100mm rifled barrel, not 120mm. Not sure why you're talking T-72 & T-90. They don't have common main gun ammunition with the T-54/55.

@TheVeritas2100 Iraq had numerical superiority to the US with its tanks and tactical combat aircraft. Iraqis were better-trained than Russians as well, with far more experience than Russia. They got slayed for sport by US tankers and pilots.

@rexmann1984 The Soviets got Pedo Pete into the Senate in '72 using a front. He's been on the payroll since then, as well as any other foreign threat willing to throw a few pieces of silver at his corrupt family.

@SignalCorps1 Everyone assumed it would be over fairly quickly, with Russian overwhelming force rolling through straight into Kiev and taking as much of Ukraine intact, especially the sea ports.

@markpoidvin5382 It's an intentional exaggeration meaning they have way more armored vehicles than Ukraine ever will.
