@spicychad55 Russians are almost completely unaware of the Winter War. Instead, they are taught that the fascist Finns invaded poor Russia in WWII. I took pictures of the maps showing this alternate reality in the Central Red Army Museum in Moscow. Russians look at Finland as rightfully their territory, lost after the Bolshevik Revolution against the Czars and Finnish Civil War that followed, where the White Finns defeated and exterminated the Red Finns.

@juricakovac5667 I’ve seen more mosquitos in a few hours in Finland than a month in Panama in the jungle. I spent 28 days in Panama for Jungle Operations Training Center in 1997. I have been traveling to or living in Finland since 1979 on and off, since my family is Finnish. Mosquitos in Finland are brutal because of the 188,000 lakes. My wife got bit on her scalp, and those bites turned into cysts that had to be cut out years later.

@dand7763 In all fairness, Putin was counting on Biden to pull Zelensky out of Kiev on a plane, and would have been relatively successful at seizing Kiev and occupying Ukraine had that happened. By Zelensky not leaving, it threw a wrench in Putin's SMO, turning it into a drawn-out war of attrition. This delayed the annexation of Moldova and immediate follow-on staging for the invasion of Romania and Poland.

Russia still believes they can roll through Finland though, especially when looking at the population. Ukraine had 43 million before Putin invaded. Finland only has 5.5 million. More Ukrainians have become refugees than Finland's entire population.

@SomeGeezer0 I’ve been working with Finland from 2005-2016 in preparation for these contingencies. My mom is from Finland and I have Finnish citizenship as a result, have lived there many times since 1979. The biggest thing is that people apply their thinking to the Russians, and the Russians don’t think like the rest of us, not even close. They’re historically retarded and also self-aware in a way that we aren’t. Russians will do whatever Putin orders, and Putin still believes the history that fascist Finland invaded Russia in World War II. The official internal dialog within the KGB was based on Stalin’s history, where the false flag Stalin used to start the Winter War was a real attack from Finland. Russians don’t generally even acknowledge Finland as an independent nation, many saying that the Czar created Finland, therefore Finland belongs to Russia and they should rightfully take it back. Same for the Baltics. Estonians aren’t even recognized as people. “Who are they? What do they have?” Russians are very primitive thinkers in ways that make some of the dumbest, uneducated people in the West seem brilliant. You have to see it for yourself to understand what I’m talking about. What that looks like in practice is Iskander cruise missiles hitting Helsinki, whether Russians can take any ground in Finland or not. Putin doesn’t read any Western analyses of Russia because he already has the best, most reliable information in his mind due to his KGB background. Everyone else are stupid peasants in his mind, filled with propaganda. Russians project their own condition on everyone else just as Westerners do to them. Neither are correct.

Finland and Poland did the opposite of most NATO nations in the 1990s, when everyone thought it was the end of history. While others including the US, UK, and Germany were drawing down, Finland and Poland started acquiring large weapons packages and modernizing. Finland bought 64 F-18C/D fighters from the US. Poland bought F-16C/D Block 52 fighters. Finland was unique with the F-18 and not F/A-18 because they still held themselves to the neutered conditions of their air force set by the Soviets post-WWII, where none of their air force was allowed to have bombing capability. Since then, they upgraded their Hornets to full F/A-18C/D ATG capes with JDAM, JASSM cruise missiles, and other precision weapons.

@thomasdonovan3580 Putin was planning on invading Finland anyway. One of his foreign ministry secretaries was running his mouth about the new plans already in the 2000s. Russia didn’t invade Ukraine over possible NATO membership, but because Putin lost his puppet, Yanukovych, and Putin had been using Ukraine for a personal bank through embezzlement of Ukrainian revenue through various companies, including Burisma. As long as Yanukovych was in power, Putin was happy, along with Biden, Obama, and all the other stooges who were on Putin’s payroll. Look at the Panama papers for further evidence of what I’m talking about. Finns know that without a mutual defense pact, they would be seriously damaged by Russia at a minimum, with a giant loss of population. The Ukrainian refugee crisis is 2x the Finnish population, for example. The US didn’t drive a wedge between Russia and EU. EU nations got in front of that on their own, outside of the influence of puppet Biden or Obama. The US has been in strategic withdrawal from Europe since 1992, after Desert Storm and the collapse of the Soviet Empire. Eastern Europe came begging to join NATO because, unlike the comfortable Germans, French, and UK, they didn’t buy into “the end of history” silliness that was being spewed from Brussels, London, New York, and DC. The Eastern Europeans’ instinct was of course correct, and all the talking heads and academics in the US and Western Europe who thought we were done with the old ways were wrong. This should have been clear already with Yugoslavia. When Russia invaded Georgia in 2008, most knew the gig was up.

Putin rigged the elections in 2006 and 2010 until he finally got Yanukovych into the Presidency. 79% of Ukrainians wanted to trade with the EU and grow the economy like Poland has. Yanukovych said he would be independent, but then he signed onto Putin's Russia-Eurasia Economic Pact in late 2013. Ukrainians started protesting then en masse until they threw Yanukovych out in March 2014. That's when Putin had Night Wolves and Wagner start shooting people in Donbas. "Nuland coup" is retarded propaganda from Putin, nothing more.

@Frog89mad Yup. The world was broken down into empires until after The Great War and WWII dissolved them. Finland spent most of its time in recent recorded history as part of the Swedish Empire.

Finland is much closer to Saint Petersburg, which is what made Stalin uncomfortable in the 1930s.

@Hellfr4g Yup. There is only 1 highway and railway between Saint Petersburg and Moscow, which traverse a vast expanse of forest with nothing around. Norway and Finland will have F-35As with shared sensor coverage over that region, which networks with the entire JSF web all the way to the UK and Western Europe. It's going to make submarine tracking much easier, as well as form a new theater ballistic missile defense architecture.

He explains how any nations trying to get away from the dollar is silly because the US geography, isolation, industrial might, agriculture, technology, and military make the US basically an island fortress that acts as a safehold for other nations when they want to park cash in a secure market, especially during times of instability. No other such market exists on earth.

@labf5213 People keep talking about Brazil, but it isn't strongly-connected geographically with any large trade partners, and its trade with China relies on security from the US Navy. Most of the critical systems in the new JAS-39E/F fighters Brazil bought from Sweden come from the US and UK. As an investor, I keep seeing the US as central to this arrangement in terms of valuation, and look to the US for long-term growth.
