  1. The Indians financed much of the PAK-FA/Su-57 program with about $300 million up front. When Russia showed them some of the more advanced prototypes and how it was coming along, the Indians said, “Uh.....that’s not what was advertised.” and pulled out without any orders, then they ordered Rafale F4 variants to the tune of $216million each in a huge arms deal with France. China can’t afford to export fighters and higher-end weapons because they think they need them for the defense of China, and they don’t have an advanced, exportable single engine fighter. They have kept the J-10 exclusively for the PLAAF.

  3.  @termitreter6545  The legacy Chinese copies of the MiG-21 (J7) and various missiles and small arms have been tested in combat, and were vastly-inferior of course. Saddam had some J7s and they were shot down for sport. US technical exploitation programs tested the J7 as well. Some things were better on it than the MiG-21, while others not so much. They have complained about Russian missiles, engines, Radars, and trash electronics, as have the Indians on the Super Flankers (Su-30MKK, MKI, and Su-35S). Some of the newer Russian missiles have proven formidable, while Russians brag about selling monkey models to their customers.
