The 1940 USA didn't have anywhere-near the energy, transportation, or communication infrastructure of the US today. There were loose networks of railroads and unimproved + improved roads connecting cities and farmland. They didn't have the Interstate Hwy Commission until Eisenhower in the 1950s, nor did they have 14,000+ airports and airfields. They also didn't have anywhere near as many sea ports and deep sea ports with heavy crane and lift machinery like we have today. They also only had a population of 132 million in 1940, whereas we have 334 million today. The US industrial output capacity today is in a totally different playing field than 1940.

@dylanbuchanan6511 Climate change is a natural and dynamic fluctuation in earth's relationship between the sun, the earth's msgnetisphere, atmospheric layers, and inner cores. These components are so many orders of magnitude more influential on temps, as to make mankind's contributions negligible at best. Ice core records prove this.

@daveloch905 They prove the opposite. During several of the biggest waves of industrial output in the last century, we saw corresponding drops in global temps. Human contributions to helpful, essential CO2 output are maybe 0.3 to 3% of total emissions. There's something going on with the deep sea floor geothermal activity right now. Ancient periods of heating and cooling had no corresponding civilizations of industrial output. Anthropogenic global warming is a fraudulent body of pseudoscience, not reality. You need to seriously look at some counter arguments from actual atmospheric researchers in this field.
