  1. Because there are many different highly-specialized subsystems and technologies with stacked value-added supply chains under them in different countries. This includes precision glass and optics, Lasers, wafer boards, precursor chemicals, minerals, machinery, and engineers and technicians within each of those fields. It's similar to asking why an aircraft manufacturer doesn't have total ownership of the subsystem supply. The industrial revolutions have developed individual technologies in different regions over centuries now, with very specialized and narrow sectors of each market able to come together across the globe after Bretton-Woods.

Forget about headlines of the day about Boeing's commercial side, which will not paint an accurate picture of the manufacturing process for every company or even production lines within that company. Think more about the military assembly lines and supply chains. For example, neither Boeing nor Lockheed Martin make gas turbine engines. They also don't make: Life support systems Generators Landing gear Wiring harnesses Actuators/servos Ejection seats Cockpit displays Controls DFLCS CPUs FADEC interfaces Canopies Radars Fuel lines Hydraulics Raw aluminum Titanium Carbon Fiber precursors and resins Ejector racks Stores Pylons Missile launch rails Umbilicals etc. Same is true in the SC industry.

  3. Newt Gingrich was the architect of that, not Clinton. Gingrich was one of the only clean, well-informed Speakers of the House we've had in the last 120yrs. Most of the rest are plants by organized crime, positioned to steer pork barrel spending to cronies. Paul Ryan and Mike Johnson are also outliers in that Speaker format. McCarthy, Pelosi, and the others literally come from Mafia-stooge families. Tip O'Neil, Tom Foley, and down the list is a very interesting insight in how corporate kleptocrats and organized crime have controlled the US budget for well over a century.

Because of the internet, there's a struggle over that power base and people are ignoring legacy media tunnels with abandonment of corporate advertisement-based groupthink. When Peter referenced the lunatic fringe conspiracies that used to be espoused by the left percolating into the right in US politics, he didn't specify which conspiracies, but he's right. The main ones are: * JFK assassination had US government involvement in both the murders and the cover-up via the Warren Commission. This was a pillar basis of politically-active academics and journalists who affiliated with Democrats from the 1960s-forward. There were also people across party lines who thought it was a conspiracy, didn't buy the WC narrative. These are just the facts about people's perceptions and instincts, supported by the Church Committee, Assassination review Committee, and ARRB acts from 1975-1992. * Another big one is pharmaceutical giants' manipulation of media and ads through corporate media, while concealing their harmful products. People on the left and right are seeing more eye-to-eye on these types of topics, which is alarming to those who are used to ruling through division. Peter skips over these details, though he has discussed the overall trend towards a new populist political movement in the US.
