@Really250 You and I watched different invasions I think. By any military standards, they went in very heavy and tried to take the Capitol of Kiev. Part of the success of the invasion relied on Biden removing Zelensky for Putin, but Zelesnky didn’t get on the plane. Putin has had Ukraine on his list since 2000, on his way to Poland. This is from the Russian foreign ministry, not read anywhere online. I learned about it in 2006.

Remember that all of the Western defense analysts and retired Generals wrote Ukraine off before the 2022 invasion, and immediately after the invasion, everyone including Peter said Russia would own Ukraine within a matter of days, maybe a few weeks. The main reason Ukraine is still able to defend itself is all the weapons and logistics it gets from the West.

Mike Johnson proposed a massive Ukraine aid bill, but this is a major election year where you typically see Congress lose a lot of seats from the WH-aligned party. Democrats will do what every minority House has done and only sign-onto poison pill legislation that is purposely designed to sabotage any chance of a bill passing that will make the other party look good. House leadership drives the bill sponsors, so anyone that wants to get reelected has to toe the party line or lose funding from the partisan coffers. This is how DC works.

@leogem177 Anyone looking to make foreign affairs like this into a partisan political domestic US issue in an election year can’t be trusted to form a coherent or relevant position on foreign policy, and should be dismissed as a rule when they opine.
