@frequentlycynical642 US was the world's largest industrial power and economy no later than 1890. England didn't have the geographic capacity to even compare well at that stage. Look up and down the US Eastern Seaboard, the connected River networks, and how much rail there was already. The writing was already on the wall for England in the interim between the War of 1812 and US Civil War, and the main banking families knew it.

@gagamba9198 US Naval power and developments set the tone for all future naval technologies and force structures with the major turning point being the US Civil War. That's where submarines, torpedoes, and ironclads were developed and introduced. US Naval power was instrumental in the Mexican American war where we surrounded Mexico City, laid siege, then asked them how far they wanted to go with this. Then we set the border to the Rio Grande and sent them the bill for the war. The Royal Navy never pulled off such a thing. By the Great War, Europe relied heavily on the US for logistics and war material.
