Record low unemployment plus physically unfit candidates are huge factors, as well as declining birth rates.

The military has a lot of Karen brigade entitled women who bought into the woman authority figure facade, which is caustic for military units and recruiting. As long as young men see more Karens in leadership positions, they will steer clear of that. Testosterone levels have been dramatically reduced due to birth control chemicals in the water system, toxic seed oils in the food, and xenoestrogen microplastics in everything. A young man who has higher than average testosterone will want to preserve his strength, not sacrifice it to some stupid Karen who was mistakenly given important leadership positions closer to or even within combat arms.

Millennials comprise the senior leadership of the military at the operational levels, many of whom are now retired already.

How's the weather in Saint Petersburg comrade?

Gen X are highly-social with each other and baby boomers, but don't relate as well with millennials, while Gen Z and Alpha see them as mystics and intriguing. Karen brigade Millennials are tired of being criticized for being lazy, stupid, fat, and ungrounded, and are now coming into their own where they think their experiences equal wisdom after lecturing people for years about things they never understood. Zoomers and Alphas have been constantly shown how stupid and lazy millennials are, so they have little respect for them-even less than X has for Boomers who abandoned them for their stupid careers. Millennials are going to have an interesting time trying to manage Gen Z while Alphas just dismiss them.

The years in which you were born and the trends in "parenting" for those years are real demographic and social factors he's talking about, not the exceptions nit-pickers want to highlight to ignore the trends.

The military doesn't innovate or design things. That all happens in the civilian DoD and private contractor sector. The military has musical chair program officers who change every 2-3 years, few of whom even understand the force requirements, the threats, or even the basic technology set of the existing systems, let alone the proposed ones.

You clearly have never been in the military.

@erikvan9582 The US was allied with the Soviets during WWII, since FDR recognized Stalin and the Bolsheviks as the official government of Russia in 1933, instead of supporting the nationalist Czars like prior US Presidents had done. People don't know much about history because it has been manipulated and curated to hide critical events like I just mentioned.
