 @theliato3809 Russia has never had a sea-faring geography or culture. Since Peter the Great, they have tried and failed to be a competent, relevant naval power.

@blackcatdungeonmastersfami5311 Uranium mines in Russia stopped receiving orders as the Soviet Union collapsed. The miners and engineers collapsed to the bigger cities and mining operations were reduced dramatically. Putin needed access to open and functioning mines, which is why he bribed the Clintons and Bidens to get SECSTATE Hillary and VP Biden to fast-track the Uranium One deal. It was one of the biggest questions we had. "Why does Putin need Uranium from US and Canadian mines when he has Russia?" Westerners still don't understand how irreparably-defunct Russian industries are.

@denisavdeev8148 When I lived in Russia from 2008-2009, it was normally 22 Rubles to the USD. I had a lot of Euros, which had even more value, but Russians didn't want those. They wanted US Dollars for whatever reasons.

@denisavdeev8148 I think financial math and economics might be elusive. The closer the Ruble is to the Dollar, the more valuable it is. The higher the number it is for Rubles to buy dollars with, the less valuable the Ruble is. The Ruble value has basically been cut to 1/3 of what it was when I was living there only 14-15 years ago.
