Everything Peter forecast about China has been happening over the past 2 decades though. I was a subscriber to STRATFOR back then, so I’ve been along for all of that.

@Thichaou The US set a new standard for naval combat that no other nation has been able to even reach for during WWII, while the US then inherited the patrolling of the trade routes around the world and has maintained them since 1945. US also set a new standard in warfare on how to overwhelmingly annihilate a huge military force in Desert Storm in 1991 in a period of 2 weeks. Funny how people overlook the most important military campaign of the 20th Century and how it shaped the early 21st Century. You might want to spend about a decade styling military history before commenting on it if you have overlooked these facts.

@DelAoc Spaniards and Brits have nowhere near the geography, resources, and population of the US, let alone their seaport/access constraints that don’t compare well at all to the US. China murdered their young population in and out of the womb for 35 years under "One Child", and their senior officers sell off critical war materials under their command to local markets due to their millennia-long culture of obscene corruption and primitive mentality. Just one of the US fleets would embarrass the PLN for sport.

@jelo742 Enterprise was a mid-atmospheric and recovery practice vehicle, not a testbed for re-entry or orbital work that the later Shuttles did. I remember it very well since we were at Edwards AFB at the time.

@TDH_1962 US has the largest Navy by displacement. Chinese PLN has a lot of small boats with no Bluewater capability and Chinese military culture of corruption, incompetence, theft, and show exercises where everyone is wearing immaculately-clean uniforms. They’re a sad joke one small naval campaign away from being embarrassed for all their regional enemies to see.
