  1. There has been a movement for the repatriation of artifacts to foreign countries though in some cases museums like the BM are quite resistant to returning certain items. I visited the BM in 1983 and saw the Elgin Marbles which were taken from the Parthenon by a British diplomat named Lord Elgin in the early 19th century. At the same time that I visited there was a news report about Greece adamantly demanding the Marbles be returned. But alas they are STILL at the museum today!!
