That is hardly a new phenomena given how often we hear people with many different accents all the time talking about what is going on around the world!?

Democrats are willing, but republicans are consistently resistant to supporting infrastructure spending. It took the Dems controlling both houses in Congress to pass that infrastructure bill in the last session of Congress. Repubs had they chance under trump in his first two years, but they squandered the opportunity and instead passed a bill with over a TRILLION $$ in tax breaks to their rich donors in Dec 2017.

@sirsluginston As rthomp noted those 400 million (actually 330 million) works out to a dollar a person which you will never miss. Your 'me first' attitude fails all metrics and that's why republicans have been running away from big infrastructure spending for decades. It took the Democrats and Biden to get it done with the infrastructure bill.
1
So do you really think those problems arent in many other places in the US??
1
That's just like countless other bills passed by Congress to benefit one part of the country or another. And I'll bet you'd be fine a bill passed for an infrastructure upgrade to YOUR REGION so why shouldn't any other part of the country benefit from government legislation?? That IS how government works after all and without that model the country would be no where near as prosperous as it is!!

Democrats wanted to increase the tax on gasoline back in the 90's to pay for road and bridge maintenance, but republicans opposed it. And republicans continued to oppose any infrastructure spending right to the Biden administration even though they offered no alternative but empty pledges. It took Biden and the Dems to finally get an infrastructure bill through which repubs of course opposed. Republicans define themselves by what they oppose not what they stand for. Democrats have chosen to really make a difference FOR the people of this country. It's not perfect, but it is far better than anything republicans have to offer.

That's the potential problem in large construction projects. Sometimes the problems do not arise until the project is well underway. Engineering despite all of its advances in recent years is not perfect by any means as reflected in the occasional accidents that occur. Or potential accidents that did not become apparent as in this case until the load was being increased on the piles where the main support structures would sit as one example.
1
Of course you can say that cuz you have no vested interest in the project so what do you care??
1
If you are waiting for it to be done then what will you do? Move in or go visit someone there or go work there?

@leopoldomedinataveras7583 Well then why bring it up if you won't respond why?

It is when the light is shining on it the right way.

At some point an old bridge can't be fixed up anymore because the steel is on the verge of failing. The population has increased dramatically since that steel bridge was built. So a new bridge was needed to accommodate the growing population.

50 million is chump change for the super rich.
1
Well it is a balancing act and cities do have a budget they work under. Federal funding helped to reduce some but not all of the cost too. That's why a bid has to be evaluated thoroughly as solid.

Robin Truby Moving is not cheap which is why many lower income people get stuck in some areas or cities.

That tuned mass damper weighing 730 tons at the top is what interested me in addition to how tall and thin the building is. The physics to such things is rather complicated.
1
@cnutsack No, there is actually someone in that cab!
1
It narrows only in depth but not width.

Well, Antarctica was left too. But seriously the negative and positive consequences of such transport is incomprehensible!
