@fredgervinm.p.3315 American Indians did migrate, but some tribes stayed in certain regions for hundreds and even thousands of years. The Anasazi didn't move from the four corners until after or during a prolonged drought in the late 1200's.

Early Americans of the southwest including the Anasazi, Hohokum and Mogollon abandoned their ancestral homes because of a prolonged drought in the area and NOT simply because it was a desert. If it were that simple they wouldn't have stayed on that land for thousands of years.

Where do you get the idea that it meaning Lake Powell will fill up in the time? Lake Powell has been in decline for years and while it will get a temporary reprieve from a recent agreement to release water from Flaming Gorge up north to Lake Powell it will continue to decline over the next year. Drought, increase in population, agriculture use and declines in the Colorado snow pack all point to the inevitable decline in Lake Powell. And Lake Mead is now dropping at about a foot every three to four days. Its days are numbered as well.
