FYI Climate change is very real and there has been a trend toward more extreme weather over the last 15 years. Temperatures have averaged over 1.5 C above the average of 100 years ago every month for the past 14 months. That has never happened before. Consequently, there have been an increasing number of heat waves that are breaking records all over the world. And because the climate is warming it holds more moisture and consequently extreme flooding results. With the increasing temperatures also brings increasing drought. With increasing drought comes worsening wildfires. We just had 2 fires here in New Mexico a week a go that almost destroyed the town of Ruidoso. The cause is suspected arson, but the cause doesn't explain the explosive nature of the fire which happened because of drought conditions, higher temperatures and strong winds. Climate change doesn't depend on you believing in it. But when countless agencies, scientists and countries are all saying we need to get more concerned about climate change than maybe it's time to start listening!!

Good catch. The Missouri does bisect the Dakota's, but makes for the eastern border of Nebraska with Iowa as you stated. I can't imagine how a dumb mistake like that could be made by our fabulous main stream media!? ๐๐

๐๐ to Anthony''s comment and try learning the difference between weather and climate.

ย @robboidย If you bothered to follow any of the science about climate change you would understand better as well. Unless you prefer to stay uninformed?!?!

๐๐ . You've got it soooooooo backwards because it's the people who are in denial about climate change that need to wake up and get their collective heads out of the sand. The science for climate change has only gotten stronger. So instead of living in denial 24/7 try having an open mind for a change. The only thing you lose from a better understanding of climate change is ignorance!!

Isn't it interesting that the conspiracy theory crowd always points to cloud seeding when there is a flood, but have zero explanation for persistent drought in many areas around the world?!?!

You know there's an old adage that states that people often ridicule what they don't understand!! Thanks for being the one to set such a good example of that adage!

trump denied climate change and pulled the US out of the Paris climate Accords. The Accords were far from perfect, but it was a small step in the right direction. Those accords were only weak promises for reducing emissions in the future, but trump was so brain dead about anything having to do with science that he realized that he couldn't make money off of it or benefit from it in some way so he withdrew the US from it. In other words trump set the country back several years.

Why is that funny?

When people say repeatedly that they have never seen flooding like this in this area you might think that was worth paying attention to?!
1
Oh right are you so naive to think that the richest country in the world can't do anything else but fund a couple of foreign wars that the US isn't even fighting in?? ๐
1
You really have no idea how the government in this country budgets money do you?? Money going to Ukraine and Israel was allocated by Congress! It comes from an entirely different funding source than funds that go for disaster relief in this country! Of course I get that you are just making a cheap shot because the US is still funding those wars!! ๐

ย @2024.choiceย Apparently some people like to complain about something in this case the aid going to fight the war in Ukraine even though it is completely irrelevant to a flood in Minnesota!? ๐

It isn't just that this kind of flood hasn't happened in quite a while in this area it's the FACT that these kinds of extreme flooding events are becoming more common around the world. The climate is warming and consequently the atmosphere can hold more moisture than in the past. It's just basic physics!!

ย @random2917ย Caps are used for emphasis only and the evidence collected definitely shows an increase in extreme weather events over the last decade in particular. Drought, flooding, heat waves, larger hurricanes and so on have all increased in intensity and frequency in the last decade which coincides with the more rapid rise in the average global temperature. Some areas see a higher increase than others in the average temperature, but it is going up most everywhere. Some areas have cooler than normal temperatures, but those areas are becoming less common with time. And you can easily do a search to find the data that backs up these claims. I am merely a messenger to the increasing understanding about climate change. Like many others I find it interesting to restate what the climate scientists are saying in venues like this one.

ย @random2917ย What do you mean "how much of YOUR MONEY is needed to fix this man-made problem"?? In the first place why are you obsessing about how much of YOUR MONEY is needed when you won't notice any change in YOUR MONEY!! This kind of thing goes on all over the country all the time!! Whether federal or state funds are used you won't notice any difference in your bottom line!! ๐
1
ย @random2917ย Wrong question?? How long are YOU going to stay in denial with your head in the sand while extreme weather has only become more severe and more frequent?!
1
ย @random2917ย There are literally dozens more sources of evidence if you want more evidence! And you can quit being a hypocrite at any time claiming I was using childish insults. Who was the one that accused me of drinking Kool aid? ๐
