Nonsense!! The amount of money sent to other countries is a tiny fraction of the US budget. Besides that, sending money to other countries can help those countries respond to external threats more effectively such as UKRAINE trying to fight off the unprovoked invasion of Russia!!

@Brett M You completely miss the point when you frame it as "what does that do for me or you"?! The problem with that individualist perspective is that it ignores the positive benefit for the country as a whole when we aid another country. So in the first place contributing to Ukraine helps them respond more effectively militarily to Russia as well as providing aid to support the civilian population. Better to support aid now then try and clean up the mess left in the aftermath of this invasion by Russia. Thousands more people would die and be displaced without the US providing aid. That means less immigrants coming to this country if Ukraine can be stabilized. Look at Syria as an example of what happened when the US did little to nothing to support the opposition in the violent crackdown by the Syrian government. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq had already greatly destabilized the region and when war broke out in Syria the rest of the Middle East was ill equipped to provide support. So the lackluster support to Syria resulted in 300,000 dead and still counting and several million Syrians displaced from the country including over a million into Europe!! This is foreign policy 101 which the US government regardless of administration has also failed at in the past over and over. This is at least an attempt to support ukraine such that it doesn't slip into total chaos which would be more expensive and involve the US more later.

@reeds_can_see_thefuture1056 I am well aware of many examples of aid provided to foreign countries did little to nothing to help those countries However, Ukraine has benefited greatly from the military aid the US and its allies have provided. I have no reason to believe that the humanitarian aid hasn't helped the civilian population as well.

@RussCR5187 Of course, but that doesn't negate the fact that this was an illegal invasion by Russia and the US and the allies couldn't stand by and watch Ukraine be slaughtered. That is essentially what the world did when the Syrian war broke out. Of course Russia jumped on Syria's side, but no one aided the rebels except various war opportunists. And it is also true that Putin may have felt that he could do what he wanted after watching the US invade Afghanistan and Iraq without paying any real consequences. Such foreign escapades need to stop for our species to survive because it could go toward unintended consequences and the Ukraine war may yet do just that!!
