Good job!! At least you learned one thing from this video.

I'm sure California is glad you left too!! 😅😂🤣

That's just too bad isn't it? Since the seven states in the compact weren't willing to work out a solution before hand when the states all had years to prepare they really don't have an argument about the cuts being unfair!! It looks like most states won't see much cut from their allotment in the first round. But if something more isn't done the next cuts will likely be more painful. It really shouldn't surprise anyone.

@donaldkasper8346 It's too bad that the states still held onto the old allotments despite the decline in water flow in Colorado from the high back in 1920's. And especially since the drought of the last 20 years which greatly worsened in the last two. Some of the states did make considerable effort to conserve water. Yet still the states couldn't come to an agreement and ended up with water use cuts imposed on them by the federal government. It will be interesting how this plays out in coming years.

@donaldkasper8346 Thanks for your comments. Have a good day.

By all red states do you mean Nevada and Arizona because they are the only ones directly impacted by this round of cuts!? There are two other red states in the Colorado River compact which are Wyoming and Utah. Then there are California, New Mexico and Colorado which are blue states. So what's the point of your snide remark besides not really understanding the states involved in this water shortage problem?? As a Democrat I find that such partisan comments do nothing to help the already deep divide between conservatives and liberals.

@Dark_Brandon The restrictions cut 21% from Arizona's water allotment and 8 % from Nevada's. I have heard of not cuts to Utah. At least not this round.

And a turkey vulture too!

There isn't hardly enough water in Lake Tahoe to make any difference!!

That will just give you something else to whine about. One million people are coming to your state next Monday at 8am. Be ready!!!

That's because right now every weather event has climate change written all over it! This is the worst drought in the southwest in 1200 years. It has also been especially warm through the west. And look at Europe which is suffering from a record heat wave, drought and wild fires. Also in China, drought AND flooding destroying much of their crops. That's what climate change does; it increases the frequency of these extreme weather events. Climate Change doesn't care if you deny it is happening because it will happen anyway!!

@thekinginyellow1744 How convenient to just blame the government!? Except these states have had decades to work out a solution and the most they did was to conserve more water within their state. That's fine, but without sitting down to work out a solution among themselves then the government had to draw a line in the sand!!

You said "Face the facts"! So when are you going to start talking facts? In 1983 Lake Mead was overflowing. In the mid 1990's the water was still near full pool. But then beginning 2000 a drought began which gradually began to drain Lake Mead and Lake Powell. But that wasn't the only cause of the decline in water in these reservoirs. There was also the growing population in the southwest and an increasing amount of forage crops grown in the southwest that combined with other crops use up to 80% of the water from the Colorado River. So drought and over allocation of the Colorado brought us to where we are now. That's what facts look like.

Do you really think it could be pumped out west? It's not like pumping oil because ten or twenty times as much water as oil that goes down the Alaskan pipeline would be needed to address the problem.
1
That is not unlimited don't ya know?! In fact wells are going dry throughout the southwest from overuse during this prolonged drought.
1
And how is Nevada going to do that? The 7 states on the Colorado River have had decades to work out a solution, but have avoided doing anything. Now they may be forced if this situation worsens.
1
If you think you have the solution what are you waiting for? By the way, you don't have to yell!

Something is always happening. This was inevitable.
1
Well then, oh wise sage tell us what the real problem is!!
1
@billkallas1762 Some people think building more of something is always the answer even when it doesn't solve anything.
1
Tell us Kelly, what does the IRS have to do with this problem in the southwest!? As it is I and millions more people have to wait months instead of what used to be weeks for our tax refund because of the LACK of IRS agents!!

If it was so simple why wasn't it done before now?! Obviously your idea is not so simple. Desalinating water is an energy intensive process and it produces vast amounts of brine which is very concentrated salt water which cannot be just returned to the ocean. Here's an example of the scale of the problem that you seem to have no idea about. The largest desal plant on the west coast is in San Diego and costs 1 billion $$. It produces 50 million gallons per day which supplies water to about ten % of the population of San Diego. Tu comprende señior??
