@rampy4963 Thats a good point however you also need to take into account that medicine has advanced dramatically in the last 100 years. Ebola in 2014-15 had a higher infection rate and mortality rate and was brought under control WITHOUT a vaccine. The people of 2020 are much more mobile then in 1918 so that is a downside to be sure. The bottom line is that nCor virus is very different from SARS and MER which were both in the same class of coronaviruses as this one. Those two appeared to lose steam after a while even though SARS had a higher mortality. The nCor doesn't appear ready to do that. It's a big unknown going forward with new this virus which has never infected humans before.

@c fields. You "heard" that several animals were involved in the transmission of this nCor outbreak, but can you be sure that what you heard was verified and not just suspected?? I remember hearing about a couple animals being implicated in the transmission, but I don't remember that being verified.

Relative to viruse outbreaks like SARS in 2002 which had a motality rate of almost 10 % it is a low mortality rate.
