  1. That same claim has been made before and makes no more sense now then it did before. The reality is we can do both. And if there was no space program spending billions on such things as the JWST we would lack not only the greater understanding of universe and thus our place in it, but we would also be missing out on all the technology that is derived from the innovations that went into telescopes like the JWST. There are endless examples of new technology derived from the 60 years of space exploration. Google/search benefits of the space program.

  2. It's only impossible right now, but that can change in a short time with the will and funding to build a vehicle that can perform at the function explained in this video. It's like the proposal of developing a craft that utilizes a solar sail that could accelerate to one quarter the speed of light and could theortically reach Alpha Centauri in less the 2 decades!! Thirty years ago a lot of people thought the idea of the JWST was impossible. The technology needed to build such a craft was not even available then. But researchers persevered and over time designed and built the JW which was launched and deployed exactly as planned. In a several months the first images should be available. The impossible is becoming reality.
