The area consumed by these fires is over 35,000 acres. That's 54 miles². That has to take time to properly investigate!

Those seniors are stronger then you think. I should know cuz I am one!!
27
Why do these kinds of videos attract the snobbish comments??
7
@troyrush79 Not true for several reasons. In the first place names of deceased would not be released until the next of kin was notified. Second, in some cases if the deceased was burned beyond recognition they would be difficult to identify. That's the obvious ones off the top of my head

@neonnoir9692 The cause of the fire whether it is arson or not does explain the explosive nature of these fires. The Palisades and Eaton fires combined to burn over 35,000 acres in the first 4 days which is incredibly fast. I live in New Mexico and have watched how fires have grown faster over the last 2 decades. And yes climate change has a lot to do with it. The Los Angeles area has been in a severe drought since last May. Normally December to February is the rainy season, but instead they are still in a drought. That is quite unusual for this time of year.
6
Yes that is truly an ignorant statement. Stay well sir.

This is the Santa Ana winds that have made this fire especially explosive. 60-80 mph winds have been measured in recent days. That is the prime reason for these fast moving fires. That and the fact the vegetation is so dry from drought over the last 8 months.
4
San Francisco is 46.87 miles² in area. These fires have burned about 55 miles² so yes this fire is larger than the SF in area!
3
Los Angeles is 4700 square miles and the area burned is about 55 square miles so barely 1 % of the county is affected so far. The fires have slowed or been controlled which is a good sign. Of course it ain't over til it's over.
3
Why else do we call the employees of the fire department Fire Fighters?!
3
So tell us who is fighting god?
2
The jump in the number dead is likely because of the burned homes that are checked and found to have individuals that did not get out for whatever reason. It is a tedious process to check each property for what are likely barely recognizable human remains.
2
The national guard have been deployed in the fire zone primarily to watch for looters and several suspects have been arrested.
2
Who knows what the reason was for some people dying in their homes. Could be elderly, disabled?
2
Wrong!! Seeding clouds requires 2 criteria; 1) adequate humidity and 2) sufficient cloud cover. And even under those conditions the benefit from cloud seeding is usually minimal.
2
There aren't hundreds of tankers that could do that in the entire western hemisphere! Besides there can only be so many air craft flying over a fire anyway for safety reasons. Besides that the air craft have been grounded most of the time due to the high winds. Try sticking to stuff you know something about this clearly isn't one of them!
2
There have been only a few flight cancellations as a result of the fires primarily because the airport sits far enough south of fires that the smoke is creating problems.
2
Have you??
2
That's jumping to conclusions. This was an act of nature unlike anything that region has seen before. The time for holding people accountable will come once the fires are out and a few reevaluation can be conducted.
2
The government cannot and has never been able to manipulate the weather so put down the conspiracy theory talking points and get back to reality. This country needs everyone to stand together with reason and evidence! Oh, and go ahead and pray if that helps.

@luisvelez-s1j Even if that were true that would mean that god chose to persecute thousands of other people who had nothing to do with the alleged mocking of god. Such vengrful behavior was typical behavior of a dictator from 2000 years ago. That's why I understand god to be man made because this god you describe is a weak coward that blindly uses vengeance just like a dictator of the past!! People say god is all powerful and all good, but these silly superlatives can't both be true. From my perspective neither is true. 🙄

The fires were driven down hill by the Santa Ana winds which has never happened before because it is usually the rainy season at this time.

What do you mean by "new"? They are reporting what they receive information or observe themselves.

On the contrary, a lot of people have been speaking out about the genocide in Palestine. In fact Amnesty International has charged Israel with committing genocide against the Palestinian people. And the ICC has issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and 2 Hamas leaders.

What 75 children are you talking about and where? If you can't provide more detail and a source then just stop wasting our time and yours for that matter!

@Weyjx Yes age does make a difference. A few years ago I started having spikes in my blood pressure. It was not too serious at first. I moved to another town which proved to be very stressful. Within a month my BP started to spike more seriously and I went to the ER to document what was going on. I was put on a BP med and it took a while to get the dose right. Gradually I felt more acclimated and less stressed. Then last year my mom went in hospice and I traveled back to see her and then traveled back again for a memorial after she died at 99. All the traveling and stress around her dying process got to me harder than I could have imagined it would. In fact I was sick 3 times last year. Normally I never get sick. 2 of those times I ended up in the ER and once by EMS. High BP the last time. The grief from my mom's passing essentially overwhelmed my ability to keep up with it and I began feeling a constant level of stress and tension. This despite talking to a counselor. I realized that I was not as resilient in handling stress as I used to be. But the flip side of that is I'm living more mindfully. I'm less fearful of dying. I just take it as it comes a little better. I'm also able to get out and walk for an hour twice a week sometimes in mountainous terrain. I live in New Mexico. That's it in a nutshell!

@annviolet4727 That must have been truly devastating especially to those who witnessed it.

I'm sorry to see you still parroting the same lies and distortions put out by social media and partisan hacks. The truth is that most of that aid is in the form of military weapons that are in surplus or at least manufactured by the US arms industry. So it's those companies that benefit from providing aid to Ukraine. Further Ukraine is being supported to prevent another country from falling the repressive rule of Putin who never got over the break up of the Soviet Union. If Ukraine falls could another country in Europe be next!? Get a clue!!

Government doesn't work that way and besides none of the government officials have been found guilty of negligence in any way. In other words your opinion doesn't count in determining what legal action is taken especially when no charges have been filed against them!
1
Are you like totally new to reports given by government officials on disasters and the work being done to address them? Every political entity everywhere in the country will conduct similar briefings to the public and news media for important events. The video shown is part of a longer briefing to the public and the process is standard procedure. That video was an excerpt of a longer video in which those people in the background also spoke.
1
They wouldn't be so crass, but apparently that isn't a problem for you!
1
Are you a senior citizen and a vet who may have a sensitivity to the cold? If not you are in no position to judge these seniors who are complaining!
1
@ChocolatePeople-v2y The cause of the fire is immaterial to why these fires blew up so fast. Normally Los Angeles is in it's rainy season this time of year, but since May of last year it's been in a prolonged drought. To be still in a drought now is unusual. So the vegetation was tinder dry and all it took was spark. There is not yet a direct link to arson. Los Angeles has never had fires this severe and that should tell you something is different. Fires have gotten much worse in the last 15 years or so and the reason is that the climate is warmer and drier. These are perfect conditions for wildfires to take off as they have in Los Angeles.

No and no.

@Mmari7697 . At least in regards to Ukraine Canada and Mexico are not fighting for their survival. Ukraine was invaded by Russia in February 2022 despite Russia signing a no aggression pact with Ukraine years earlier. Russia has targeted civilians in that war and has committed torture of citizens and the kidnap of children. I don't support Israel's attack on Gaza nor do I support the US providing them arms. Netanyahu was to be tried for corruption until he was reelected just like someone else we know who sought reelection to avoid facing criminal charges. That person has also succeeded against all odds. Nice going Supreme Court!! 🙄 I disapprove of war, but understand the weapons the US supplies to Ukraine to fight Russia. They are fighting to avoid being forced to submit to repressive rule by Putin!!

You mean that is what you think is the truth! As the old adage goes don't believe everything you think. People who do are usually full of themselves. The fact of the matter is that climate change has played a major role in these fires. So I understand it's easy to blame somebody, but that never fixes the problem. In addition ignoring the key role that climate change has played in this disaster lets people off the hook from taking any responsibility for their own actions. The truth is we ALL play a role in contributing to climate change by our drive for material possessions, driving car instead of using mass transit, turning the heat up in the winter and the air conditioner in the summer, etc. etc. As for climate change affecting these fires the Santa Ana winds normally come at this time of year and usually this is the rainy season in this part of California. But this year and in fact going back to last May it has been in a persistent drought. This created the perfect conditions for an explosive fire. All it needed was a spark and that is yet to be determined. Though there was a video of a power line arcing over a dry grassy area which is a possible ignition source. At any rate these fires were predictable in the sense that they have been getting worse in recent years. Climate change has played a role in the worsening of these fires. Hotter and drier conditions are favorite conditions for fires to flourish.

If you post a comment like that with no source why should it be believed?? I found nothing on a search!
1
@RobertMJohnson Of course it's an act of nature and I will add nature enhanced by climate change. Normally the Los Angeles area is in its rainy season right now, but it has been very unusual that a prolonged drought has persisted since last May. When the Santa Ana winds arrived in the past there was usually no problem because it had rained enough that the vegetation was moist and fires would not get started. But this time the prolonged drought made the vegetation so dry as to burn easily if exposed to a flame. So the 2 of the 3 elements for a fire were present and only the ignition source is uncertain. On Tuesday the Palisades fire erupted quickly with the high winds and it tore through Palisades very quickly. That's an act of nature imo. The cause was secondary with the very dry conditions making the vegetation so easy to burn.

@johndough23 The over population is part of the truth that people don't want to look at. And with extreme weather conditions like this happening it has made this kind of devastating fire more likely. Climate change very likely increased the odds of this severe drought to be still going on now at the same time the Santa Ana winds are blowing toward the ocean. And because the change needed to address the population problem and our warming climate will be slow to face up to this kind of catastrophe is more likely to happen again. Just my thoughts.
1
Oh, I see so now the vengeful god of the Old testament is back perpetrating violence against innocent people!! 🙄. Most of those people had nothing to do with the Golden Globes so your moronic logic escapes me!
1
@blaydCA. Wildfires get out of hand for various reasons that are often beyond the control of the fire fighters fighting the fire. And it can happen anywhere. Consequently, singling out this particular fire and how it was handled seems irrelevant.

Put this in your perspective for the first time! trump was found guilty of 34 felonies and multiple civil guilty verdicts. He invoked an insurrection against the US capital causing the injuries of 140 capital police. And yet trump was reelected president and is returning to the White House in a week. How fuked up is that??
