  1. Another channel addresses the additional culpability of Germany in the war and the US in ignoring the signs to stay out. Germany had warned the US not to cross the Atlantic during the conflict. Germany suspected that the Lusitania carried weapons intended for the allies which was apparently true. So despite this warning and the threat of attacks on merchant ships already the Luisitania set sale with 2000 passengers. Just 15 miles from the British Isles a German u-,boat fired on the Lusitania. The ship sank in just 20 minutes with 1200 casualties. This would eventually turn the US from its isolationist stance into entering the war in 2017. This video on who was responsible for the start of WW l was thorough in looking at the role each country played in going to war and at least not making greater effort to avoid conflict. The evidence points to the loss of the Lusitania as quite unnecessary and thus the US entering the war also questionable. Side note my grandfather served on a machine gunner battalion on the American side. Obviously if he had been killed in battle neither I, my siblings or several close relatives wouldn't have lived at all. The tragedy of war is the mark of a great failure in humanity!!
