They detected in back in 2019 and they were dealing with then, but because it appears to be more infectious then say ebola it was hard to control. Better to focus on dealing with the threat it presents now then whine about what happened at its outset. Leave that to the disease control specialists. In the meantime educate YOURSELF about the virus so you don't over react or for that matter under react!

@Toastmas. I have heard those kind of claims during previous illnesses, but it is really an empty cliche. Only the flu pandemic of 1918 which killed 50 to 100 million really affected world population in a serious way. 300 or 700 million would need to die for a comparable mortality rate in today's world of 7.6 billion people. That would be a truly devastating pandemic and also extremely unlikely given how much medicine has advanced in the last 100 years. Humans kill far in war then from any infectious disease like the Ebola or Corona virus is likely to. In fact there are hundreds of thousands who die from heart disease, cancer and other common maladies every year. Nevertheless nothing triggers fear in people like a virus like this breaking out of it's country of origin despite the reality that people are far more likely to die from numerous other causes including violence, health or accidental causes.

@idontknow5473 Your are speaking from a perspective of someone who has no experience in health care! I have been in health care for years and I am well aware of how far medicine has progressed just since the ebola outbreak in 2014. This WILL get worse for a while probably months, but it would have a long way to go to get as bad as the 1918 flu outbreak that killed at least 50 MILLION. Medical science has come a long way from that time!

@Lolita. It's getting stronger because some of these people became infected BEFORE the streets were cleared. And one sick person could in turn infect every one in cloistered household. So it will get worse for a while then it should slow down.

That is extreme hyperbole!! That one person will be quarantined along with those he had contact with. That is how ebola was slowed even before a virus was developed. So stop with the hysterics!!

@CappedYT Wow!! I wasn't addressing that comment to you and yet you got triggered! Where do you get the idea there are 90 K infected? That sounds like a wild guess. The last total I heard was 2700 today which is almost double from yesterday. Sure that is an under count, but you're guessing at 90K. Maybe you meant 90 % of those infected are in China!? That actually makes sense. That 90 K figure will come through officially in as little as a week. It could double every day for a while which is scary enough. Don't make it sound worse then it is!

@Ben. That is never a logical or rational argument! The flu pandemic of 1918 killed at least 50 million people and medicine has advanced dramatically in 100 years. This Corona virus will get worse for a while maybe even months before it alows down due to quarantined communties. The worst ebola outbreak in Western Africa killed 10,000 people in 2014 while tragic barely affected population in the infected countries.

You are assuming a large percentage of people carry the infection. Actually any assumption about how this virus will progress aside from the obvious is a waste of time and creates unnecessary fear and even panic. And the obvious is that we are uncertain how many of those people who left might be carriers. We have to wait and see how it plays out. When infected people do appear around the world hopefully they and their contacts can be quickly quarantined.

@WTF_BBQ You don't understand the WHO rational for determining if a global crisis is underway. That can only be determined if there are SECONDARY infections from the original individuals that came from China. If those initial arrivals were quarantined before infecting anyone else then no global crisis can be issued! So it is you that is making the false assumption that the WHO is basing this on economic concerns!! Educate yourself then you won't panic about it! I know I am not going to panic for that reason.

The National Health Organisation was mentioned and that is the Chinese health organisation. Get your facts straight!

@notafuckinpplperson8233 No it wasn't and besides that was 100 years ago before much of modern medicine was even thought of. The corona virus was not released from a lab either. Think about it! If this was an attempt at population control it is a stupid idea because of the huge number of casualties necessary for such an extreme tactic to have any effect. More to the point I will never accept such a possibility because it is such a cynical idea. 2) There is also no evidence of that being the cause in this case. And lastly 3) what good would it do knowing that someone had created a killer virus in a lab? That would only create more fear that it could happen again. How could you counter such a threat?? In other words stop any time obsessing on something that you could do nothing about. And if the virus did turn up in your area there are precautions that you could take just like the gentleman is doing in another video. "Daily Life in Wuhan Lockdown".

At any rate Wikipedia defines a rumor as "a tall tale of explanations of events circulating from person to person and pertaining to an object, event, or issue in public concern". People pass on statements lacking any evidence or reasoning that are likely rumors and people often make up krap for their own self-serving purposes and those are definately rumors!!

@mechadoggy We still have to wait and see how effective the quarantine will be. Having said that there will still be 1000's more infected perhaps 10's of 1000's and hence countless more deaths because many became infected before the quarantine. The bottom line is most of us have no control how this virus outbreak progresses. What we CAN do is control how WE react to the news and mostly people are over reacting and that doesn't help anyone!!! Educate yourself to avoid jumping to conclusions and accept what you have no control over. period!
