@georgezee5173 This kind of extreme flooding is a consequence of climate change. As the climate warms it can hold more moisture thus causing more intense rain storms. The high pressure to the north which stalled this storm is also mostly a result of climate change, but is more complicated to explain. I'll go with the climate scientists who have a lot more understanding and research to back it up than you do!!

It would take hundreds of years for all of the glaciers to melt. Much more immediate are the catastrophic floods like this that are becoming more frequent. It doesn't matter if you live outside of a flood zone because floods are now more likely just about anywhere. Climate change is accelerating with extreme weather like this.

Sometimes nature brings circumstances that are beyond the control of people to adapt quickly enough. This was a catastrophic flash flood that weather predictions didn't expect to be this bad. Weather prediction is not perfect you know. But people do the best they can sometimes we are unprepared for what happens. This is a consequence of climate change and extreme floods are happening more frequently.

@samruddhakokare2 You are making this a black and white issue which it is not. The US can do both at the same time as they have done in the past. In addition the foreign aid funding is entirely different from the funding for natural disasters. Neither one has any effect on the other except in the minds of people who chose to confuse the two and probably for partisan reasons!!

@samruddhakokare2 Your naivete prevents you from seeing the reality of the Ukraine/Russia conflict. Russia invaded Ukraine in an unprovoked attack. Russia wants total control of Ukraine and has gone out of its way to try and make that happen. Russia is guilty of war crimes including targeting and torturing civilians. They have secured arms from countries like North Korea and Iran. They have even sent violent criminals in to fight with the promise of ending their prison sentence if they serve at least 6 months. So there is no making peace with Russia. This is a tragedy of mind numbing proportions. I don't have the answers, but if the US stops backing Russia then Ukraine would eventually be destroyed with its people being subjected to tyranny.
