@basspig In the first place I seriously doubt, NO I know that laser pointers lack the energy to start a fire. That's absurd. And every time someone like you brings out that old trope about illegal alien terrorists with zero factual basis you are doing nothing constructive to ENHANCE communication in this country. You are like our failed president who likes to defame minorities with no other purpose then to divide this country and marginalize minorities. That talk is hate speech! Shame on you for demonstrating such moral depravity!!

@basspig. Many of these fires can happen in spite of turning the power off say from lightening for example.

@LT-fp1kc That is pretty much the problem with many Americans today who make uninformed judgments about the homeless as if they are all addicts or trying to claim if there were physically able they would work. You defame a great many homeless vets with your ignorant comments as well homeless people in general!!

@notnek202. Why not ask the same question about why people build along the east coast which is prone to hurricanes or the central plains and the southeast which are prone to tornadoes?? If people DIDN'T build in those areas the area left in the US where people could build would be dramatically diminished. So the bottom line is that some people are willing to live in certain areas despite the risks because of many other favorable qualities of the region. And a lot of people choose to live in areas prone to natural disaster because it may be cheaper. Paradise, California was destroyed by the fire storm of Nov 2018 and those were mostly average people with modest means.

@plumbob109 There are stronger lasers, but I seriously doubt that there are any laser pointers strong enough to ignite a fire. That would be a hazard and unnecessary for a laser pointer to be that powerful. And just because such instruments are present in the world I have seen no evidence to link the fires to laser pointers.
