  1. Your comment is not only insensitive but at least partly false. Intense fires like these in Australia not only destroy everything above ground, but also seriously damage soil becuse of the intense heat. Microbial activity in the soil is essentially destroyed in the upper several inches because of the intense heat.

  2. Some people have also burned to death as has happened in Western US fires in the last decade. Paradise fire for one.
