@wicky. No I don't think Cambridge ever did any such study. Any study that they did do would inevitably have show the efficacy of the N-95 mask. It's just common sense.

There are several points of reason which verify the effectiveness of mask wearing. 1) There was no dramatic in the flu outbreak this past winter because so many people wore masks and were social distancing. 2) You can demonstrate for yourself the effectiveness of mask wearing by blowing and coughing into your hand. Then put a mask on and do the same thing and you'll notice a dramatic decline in how much air gets through to your hand with the mask on. Also wearing a surgical mask is better then a cloth mask..

@LesBurgess1867 Fauci only questioned the use of masks early on before they realized the virus was transmitted primarily through the air. After March 2020 Fauci was in full support of mask wearing. As long as you mistrust the medical professionals about what they say about this pandemic then WHO ARE you going to trust?? I verify what one Dr says with another source to get the best information.

@DadBadGaming There is an ample supply of hubris on this thread about mask effectiveness. A surgical mask is clearly preferred many cloth masks out, but even the cloth mask is effective in decreasing the amount exhalant a person produces vs without a mask. You can even test this yourself. Blow or cough into your hand and then put a cloth mask on and do the same thing and you will see a dramatic decline in what gets through the mask to your hand.

@aldursys Invoking the results of one country is hardly an effective argument. Besides at only 10 million people Sweden had a higher mortality rate then many other European countries. Sweden is a very large country and also unique in having one of lowest single occupancy dwellings in Europe which naturally limited spread of the virus so there is another reason why singling out Sweden as doing so much better then other countries ignores the underlying reason why!! I'll stand by the researchers who have done the research to show that mask wearing slows transmission. And what a coincidence that those that complain the most about wearing a mask are the ones who also claim masks don't work. Another piece of evidence that masks are effective was the dramatic reduction in the flu last winter!!! Go ahead and believe what you want, but it is not based in science.
1
