That is too cynical a perspective justify imo. Americans will wake up eventually, but unfortunately it will take a while. Like Thom said it may take until the fall maybe after we have already lost a couple hundred thousand and then get hit with a second wave. It is extremely sad to imagine that we could go into the fall when things get worse before people and especially conservatives finally start getting angry with this reality show clown. Let's hope people get it sooner.

@Bad Man Skill. Your argument trying to compare the mortality from flu to the covid 19 pandemic is seriously flawed. For one there is no vaccine for the covid virus. Second covid 19 has a higher mortality as much as 10 X as much. And third, the flu never overwhelms hospitals like this pandemic is. With mostly republican states beginning to open up their states they will see an explosion of cases which will quickly overwhelm hospitals including the rural ones in the so called heart land. Health officials in red states are asking, begging even state officials to slow the reopening of their states.
