Interesting. And how is the lack of rainfall caused by water politics and mismanagement? Drought is weather phenomena after all!!

If you can handle the truth of what is going on you don't have to watch it. By the way desalination is very expensive and produces toxic brine waste. Carbon culture must be scaled up to be effective.

It's more like the planet is tired of humanity!

@Wulture Careful we don't want to confuse him further.

@arvin2005 What are you going on about?? What is this nonsense about the sun turning red or "the ones near the equator are expected to sink when that happens"?? Why do you conspiracy theory wonks go on about cloud seeding when it is common knowledge that is an overblown fantasy??

@arvin2005 In reading other comments they have suggested to me that subsidence is occuring in some areas because the aquifer has been significantly reduced. That has happened in Jakarta in Indonesia which has resulted in continuous flooding in the city. So the capital is moving to the island of Borneo. But you seem to latch onto some conspiracy theory with no understanding of cause and effect. Bringing up nonsense like the 'red sun' demonstrates a lack of understanding.

@arvin2005 Our sun won't transition to a red sun, formerly called a red giant for a billion years and probably several billion years. Thus our sun has no impact on these sinking land areas as I explained in my previous comment.

The drying of rivers is becoming more serious and more frequent. But it isn't just rivers drying up. There are the serious fires throughout Europe, the heat waves and also flooding in other areas and this extreme weather is becoming more severe and frequent. And that is just Europe. This is a world wide phenomena. It's climate change of course. And your denial of it won't change the reality.

@B L Germany decided to shut down its nuclear reactors in the aftermath of the Fukushima disaster. That was years before the current political conflict.

Correct your misinformation about the claim that Greenland was supposed to melt many times and you'll sound more credible. No one ever said Greenland would melt quickly even though it is losing record amounts of ice every year.

@michaelmcgarrity6987 Wooooo doggy!!! As soon as you tied that 6 electrons, 6 neutrons and 6 protons to "Number of the beast", I knew you were leaving all the science behind and getting something else entirely what I have no idea!! That's just too much for me bro!! I know when I'm out of league!! I need to retain my sanity. I'm out!

@oJoJo There is no doubt that dams and sluices and other such impediments on a river seriously compromises the health of that ecosystem. That's why I applaud the removal of dams such as the four dams on the Klamath slated to be dismantled. However, I'm talking about drought which is a prolonged lack of precipitation in a region. In my state for example, New Mexico we have been in drought for most of the last 20 years. This year it got even worse with 95 % of the state in the two most extreme levels of drought; extreme and exceptional. When drought is at that level the soil is bone dry down several inches the trees become like kindling. There is even a measurement for the moisture level in trees indicating how dry it is. And because of this extreme drought New Mexico had its two largest wildfires in recorded history. Both over 300,000 acres. Acreage burned in the west has jumped dramatically in the last decade because heat waves have intensified and drought more severe.

Here is what your understanding misses. In the first place climate science doesn't predict a specific drought occurring beyond the overall weather predictions for a region which can be months in advance at best. This drought is the kind of extreme weather predicted by climate change. Increasingly severe drought, heat waves and flooding are all happening around the world just as predicted by climate researchers. It is the individual storms, heat waves and floods that can be hard to predict because of the numerous variables in weather prediction. Climate is about long term predictions as in decades. So climate looks at trends in climate change which are in fact coming true with more severe extreme weather. As to the hurricanes this is a La Niña year which leads to less precipitation in the southwest which has happened. Hurricanes normally occur in a La Nina year, but that is not guaranteed. Hurricanes are weather and thus very unpredictable. Only the fourth named storm has appeared likely to make land fall in Texas. But the hurricane season is still just half way through the season.
