The narrator didn't mention that detail, but that is part of the work being done to prepare for starship launches at 39A. Two OLT sections have already been finished awaiting transport to the launch pad.

There are already two sections of the OLT completed awaiting transport to the launch pad when the concrete foundation is finished.

@OpticalLimit I have posted YouTube links myself. I do it by clicking on SHARE and selecting "copy link".

So, I guess we can assume that you aren't a fan of Space X?! 😂😅. But seriously, your comment is hyperbolic, vitriolic even. You make it sound as though there is a whole community of people living near the launch site when in fact few of any of the former residents still live at Boca Chica. As the residents were given three times the value of their home to move. The few remaining homes were bought up by Space X for employees. The nearest houses outside of Boca Chica are more then a dozen miles away. San Padre Island is closer as a crow flies but still a good five miles. So this talk of people worried about a rocket exploding and destroying their house is extreme exaggeration. There is an approval process which is ongoing by the FAA which includes an environmental assessment which could approve, delay or reject the first test launch. But you didn't even give that a word in your diatribe. By the way Elon Musk did not pick a wildlife refuge for his rocket facility. That alone speaks volumes about how little you understand about where rocket launch sites can be located. There are in reality very few places in south Texas in which to launch a rocket. Boca Chica just happened to be the best site possible. Here's another fun fact! There is also a wild refuge right next to Cape Kennedy in Florida and those wildlife seem to be doing fine. We'll see what happens. Thankfully cooler heads who are also better informed will prevail in making a decision.

@theOrionsarms I wasn't sure what you meant by the square ponds until I went back and watched the first part of the video again. It's confusing because there are images from both sites throughout the video. Those ponds you refer to are at the Cocoa, Florida site not Boca Chica. Since are obviously manmade ponds I'm not sure of their purpose. There is a wildlife refuge near the Kennedy Space Center, but this Space X build site is remote from the launch and probably not in the refuge. I hope that answers your question.

@erichaynes7502 Space X may indeed have the inside dope on how the FAA will rule on the first test launch of Starship. I suppose we'll find out April 28 with another delay or a more extensive EA is needed.

Did you not watch the whole video? Because the narrator explains how the Florida site was initially used as kind of a friendly competition with Boca Chica to develop starship and Boca Chica site proved to be more competent in several ways. The site that Space X is now using to build starship is at an old Falcon 9 construction site which is being repurposed for starship. That was all in the video.

@avap0n459 You are right on. I overlooked the title as being misleading. That is all to common on YouTube videos unfortunately. Have a good day.

That depends a lot on what anyone is looking for. Both have numerous places to see wildlife although I favor Texas but only to visit and for birding or stopping at Boca Chica. The problem with both Texas and Florida is their extreme policies led to many 1000's more deaths from covid because of reactionary republican policies. They are both regressive and antidemocratic in many more ways to numerous to name.

You haven't watched so consequently your guess is about as bad as . . .. Sorry your guess is so bad I couldn't think of an comparison.

Those serious disruptions to current residents is not being able to get to the beach whenever they want. That's not exactly a serious disruption. There are other beaches in south Texas I'm pretty sure.
1
@OpticalLimit Those loud construction noises and bright lights of the Space X facilities are many miles away from the south Texas communities. Like I said it ain't Boca Chica that is concerned about that because all those homes are now owned by Space X employees. And the road closures only effect people going to the beach. So I don't get what you are going on about?!
1
@OpticalLimit Thanks for your response to my earlier comment. I don't know how reliable those resident comments are because the one time there was any falling debris from a Space X rocket was when SN11 blew right before it hit the ground and that was two miles from the Boca Chica village. I don't see how any debris reached that far. If it did the FAA would have been particularly concerned with future Space launches. I heard no such concerns expressed by the FAA.

It is still too soon to say at this point.

To put it more bluntly then Steve Austin's articulate response Space X is still working on Stage 0 preparation. And they chose not to fly B4S20 in leu of the more advanced B7S24. Which means that the FAA cannot be held responsible for holding up the Starship launch cuz Space isn't ready anyway!!

So what is the point of complaining about an ad at the end of the video? Several channels have ads AT THE BEGINNING!! But since it's at the end it doesn't disrupt the video at all. Personally, I don't care about the ads the channel uses because they either link to something interesting or I skip through it. Maybe you would appreciate the hard work that goes into making regular videos and some channels need an underwriter to help cover their costs. We are well into the 21st century, you better get used to it.

Mass production of starship is part of the foundation of making humans interplanetary. That and also making starship reusable and inexpensive to fly. This new production site will probably exceed the Starbase even with the Wide Bay soon to come into use. As for not wanting to risk engines in test flight there is no evidence for that. Space X is still preparing for its first orbital flight probably with B7S24 which will be tested soon. B4S20 was not flown because by the time Space is ready to go AND the FAA has given as approval the B7S24 will be ready to fly. So why not go with a more advanced model?! That test could come as early as May 2022. That is of course if the FAA grants the approval which could come on April 28. But they have delayed that announcement three times already so who knows?

@pasoundman. You know if you can't handle the visionary plans made by Space X for the future of rocket science you don't have to click on the channel!?
1
@pasoundman 😅🤣😅😂🤣. And what is your understanding of rocket science? Because all I hear from is judgmental statements about Elon which is always a sure sign you don't know shlt and have no room to judge anyone else!!
1
There is a protected wildlife refuge on both sides of the road leading from the production site to the launch site near the beach.
1
@theOrionsarms A wildlife refuge is designed to provide a refuge for a wide variety of wildlife because it is unique habitat. So I don't know exactly what wildlife would be found there except for a few that I saw when I visited last year. Birds, reptiles, probably some amphibians,.and many other animals endemic to that habitat would be found in such a place.
1
That's because there is no orbital flight path over Brownsville at least for the first orbital test flight. Once the starship reaches orbit regularly it will occasionally fly over Brownsville just like it will fly over many, many more cities around the planet. That's what happens with ALL satellites and rockets in LEO.

@waltage Landing an ocean platform is probably a couple years away and by then it should be a much more refined vehicle. Nobody is thinking much about the ocean platforms much because the primary focus is on Boca Chica and the production and launch site at the cape in Florida.
