  21.  @jrnfw4060  Voters elect candidates who are projections of themselves or personify what they are looking for in a leader. What voters often ignore or overlook are the difficulties leaders face or the pressure they experience in the process of doing their job. And sometimes the chosen candidate is confronted with an experience that is overwhelming in some way. This disaster may be such a case for Newsome, Bass and others. Never has the city of Los Angeles faced such a devastating fire as this one that has erupted so fast and caused so much destruction in such a short space of time. Many people are already prejudging Newsome when they don't have all of the facts or their bias prevents them from being objective. I won't argue the points where Newsome may or may not have failed in some way. There is a time and place for that. Imo climate change must be factored into what decisions were made or should have been made because the unusual timing of this drought overlapping with the onset of the Santa Ana winds which needs to be considered. What kind of mitigating programs could have addressed that point? The bottom line for me and partly explains the difficulty people like Newsome face is the simple fact that far too many people live in the southwest. No serious effort has ever been made to manage population growth ever!! And consequently we have the recipe for disaster with the densely populated Los Angeles area in houses that are not designed to withstand fires. There are other problems like James Woods, the actor talked about one street that accessed his neighborhood in Palisades that ended up burning down. That is just poor city planning, but it was laid out decades ago when fire was a remote fear for people. People need to look past their need to blame a politician especially right now and let them do their jobs because like I stated there are underlying issues not being addressed when observers just want to blame someone.
