Every culture absorbs from other cultures and adapts and developes it to suit their own. It has always been this way.

@Faith. That was the whole point of this video. Those geometric patterns the narrator drew on paper have all been created in stone in magnificent structures like the Alhanbra.

@Alexander Porfiryevich Borodin Is it stealing or is it really just about the Islamic culture taking this piece of Greek culture and adapting for their use?! The reality is that through history cultures have borrowing, taking aspects of other cultures that they alter to fit the new culture. This is an unavoidable reality in the world and always has been.

@Alexander Porfiryevich Borodin I see. That was my mistaken reading of your comment. Thanks for correcting my error. Have a good day and stay safe and healthy.

@endpc5166 Here's a reality check for you. Think about that in the context of Americans. Since WW11 the US has been greatest purveyor of violence in the world. Through direct war, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Serbian war or Iraq I and II. Or supporting a war through another country. Iraq war on Iran, US support of repression of repression in Central America, US support of Saudi Arabia in the genocidal war in Yemen. Millions of people in those countries have died because of the viscious war we perpetrated in THEIR COUNTRY!! And on and on it goes. This conflicts have done nothing but decimate those countries and created more enemies. Think Al Queda or ISIS. And there always seems to be money to fight these wars but NOT for taking care of the problems here at home like adequate health care for all or seriously addressing the poverty problem in this country. The US is being exposed by this pandemic for the incredible deficits in caring for those most in need. Thus I find it an absurdity that some people actually like to call America a Christian nation when we are nothing of the sort. This country is not following the teachings of Jesus except on a small scale and in isolated cases around the country. Until America wakes up to this lie it tells itself and rejects frauds like Trump this country will continue to decline to the point that it is second rate power devoid of a soul!!

@fly high. Instead of telling him that he is wasting his time why not try understand why he does it from HIS point of view instead of only seeing your son through your eyes?? This could enhance your relationship with your son because he will feel heard and validated.

Like the video states there are beautiful design like this all through the historic regions of Islam. This can be verified independently enough.

@Norah. You could be talking about the US!?
1
@Norah. What you are ignoring in your comment is the aggressive policy by the US government and UK government going back to the post WW11. At that time the UK government favored an Israeli state to the direct detriment of Palestinians and other Arab countries in the region. No consultation was conducted with the countries in the region prior to the designation of the Israeli state followed almost immediately by a war between Israel and the Arab states in the region. And why weren't the Palestinians awarded a state along with Israel? That was one of the great tragedies of the 20th century with the consequences being played out to this day. Then there was the overthrow of democratically elected Mohammad Mosadehk in 1954 followed by the installation of the brutal reign of the Shah. He remained in power for 2 and a half decades. Then the American hostage event took place and Americans until this day don't understand why Iranians resent the US government or why the hostage situation happened as a direct reaction to US repression through the Shah for 25 years!!. When we ignore the past then our understanding of current circumstances is inevitably flawed.

@endpc5166 I'm surprised that you didn't see that what I was responding to was in YOUR comment. Your simplistic explanation that Muslims need to become non-Muslims for the world to find ignores the role the US has played in perpetrating more war against countries around the world that were never a threat to the US which like Vietnam or Iraq or Afghanistan. Muslims only appear violent to you because you are looking at Muslim reaction OUTSIDE of the context of American aggression toward Arab nations. In addition to that you are conflating the violence of extremist arab groups like ISIS and repressive rulers like Egypt's current leader Mohammad Moraci with the vast number of Muslims who are peaceful. And take a look also at the violence in this country which has the highest murder rate of any developed country in the world. Why do people like you judge other peoples for being violent while ignoring the violence going on right here in the US??
1
That simplicity is the nature of tesellations.

Ataturk was indeed a gifted leader.

To properly encompass the huge variety of geometric patterns found Jslamic temples around the Meditarranean would require a much longer video. This was merely an introduction.

@Fly_high138 Thanks for responding back. I wish the both of you only the best. We all have our challenges to overcome.
