  4.  @patrickfuchs3859  I don't think that you of have taken a thorough inventory of the natural threats to this country. When one looks at forest fires they can affect most of the west and a good portion of the east as well. Tornadoes are a threat to most of the US east of the Rockies almost to the east coast and from the Great Lakes south to the Gulf. Flooding can happen in a large percentage of the eastern US and much of the west as well. Major snow storms threaten New England down into the Midwest though. And of course hurricanes can threaten the entire east coast and Gulf states. But it is also important to remember that it is a matter of probability whether anyone gets hit with a natural disaster and suffers a mortal injury or loses their home. Most people can live in any of these areas and they are more likely to die from illness, violent crime, suicide or accidents.
