You'll notice how the left always seems to reside in the large cities as “communities.” On the other hand, those with conservative values seem to reside in the rural areas and the small towns connected to them. That was what divided the US into the industrial north and planter south, much like what divided those living in London from those residing in the farm country, which was tied to a small town and public house that supplied them. That divide is still there, today, where those living packed within a city seem to want the state to control everything, and nanny them from the cradle to the grave. It's why labor unions, and their political movements, were born within the cities as well. If you took a city dweller suddenly out of the city, and placed them in a rural area, telling them they now had to survive, do you think they could? The US had a sitcom about that called Green Acres.
