South of the Mason-Dixon Line, the bigots in mention are simply called “Northerners.” When someone vacations in the south, and acts snooty like they're somehow better than those around them, the Southerner's always whisper to each other: “Must be a Northerner.” That's been taking place since the Civil War. Northerners, mainly from the manufacturing and port states, have always been bigoted toward the south and rural America. They stick out like a sore thumb.

  2.  @bnic9471  Not all Northerners are that way; it's mainly the people from the large urban areas and cities such as NYC, Philadelphia, Boston, etc., and especially, Washington DC, who act in this manner. The Brahmin WASPs. They're even bigoted toward the rural communities of Appalachia, which run through their own northern states. New Englanders, especially, from the larger port and manufacturing towns. Other epithets that were once used by Southerners and rural folk were “City Slicker” and “Carpet Bagger.” However, in the south, “Northerner” is the most common today, to label the bigots from the large urban areas.
