@akatsukicloak That is exactly it, and it led to the protestant movement after Luther visited Rome. It was there that he witnessed the truth about what was occurring, and he set out to change it.
That set the ball rolling, as Charlemagne and Robert the Bruce had previously determined that the high clergy of the RCC had too much power. Henry VIII did as well, which led to the dissolution of the monasteries, and making himself the pope of the C of E.
This eventually led to the Glorious Revolution, and what occurred under Cromwell, which led to the creation of the hard left and hard right ideology of politics. After this, it was always the new bourgeois middle-class that was stuck between the two extremes, and they were made to pay for the two extreme side's bloody battles and ideas.
The technocrats are acting just like the clergy by censoring speech, and dictating what is right and wrong. That didn't end well throughout history.
