Did anyone ever think about the unions being behind the minimum wage increase? If they raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, I can see the unions demanding more and striking. Especially the black union workers, as it is well known who controls them. Look what that group (DRUM) did to Michigan. The large organized union companies will close their doors, just as they have done in the past, and move south, or overseas. Others will shut their doors. It seems like the north has been trying to ruin itself since the large flood of southerners started moving north for factory jobs many years ago. Somehow, the unskilled think of themselves as skilled workers, who deserve the same wage. I hate to burst their bubble, but they're not.
Worse, raising the minimum wage always causes inflation, and devalues the dollar. It harms the entire US.
LOL, Styx, you said the most hated word of a Democrat; "work"! You also paid back your debt, which will make the left hate you more! During your commentary, you pretty much trashed the entire idea of left-wing utopia. Good on you!

RoboBear: There's a political party, and it's not the Democrats or Republicans, who are behind most of the unions, especially the Service Workers. That party is the CPUSA, along with the DSA. When Sweeney was the president of the AFL-CIO, after Vietnam, he was behind the push to allow card-carrying communists to become union members, and be allowed into positions at the union HQ. Sweeney was also a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, which is nothing but another name for the CPUSA to hide it. Yes, the unions are a monopoly racket, based on violence, and have been since their founding. They can destroy the economy, and have within state economies. The UAW is proof of that.
"The October League organized the founding congress of the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) in 1977. During this period a few other new communist movement organizations also formed new communist parties.
"Unlike the majority of New Communist Movement groups, the Dodge Revolutionary Union Movement (DRUM), which evolved into the League of Revolutionary Black Workers (LRBW), was formed by factory workers rather than student activists. The AFL-CIO leadership supported the Vietnam War and sought to avoid strikes, but union workers saw through this and independently organized a series of wildcat strikes. Radical Marxist and other African-American auto workers subsequently formed DRUM. From 1968 to 1971 DRUM and the league acted as a dual union, with black leadership, within the United Auto Workers. In the late 1970s, a group labeled the May 19th Communist Organization was created, going on a bombing campaign."

kevlarandchrome: I've thought about it. What many don't know, is that the union workers in the British coal industry, are responsible for the global warming con. They were on strike during the time of Margret Thatcher, and the price of oil had started to skyrocket, along with its availability. She pushed for nuclear power over it, to stop the unions, and when a crackpot scientist claimed that CO2 was what was causing the warming, she used that to her advantage, and the British Government stated financing universities to look into it. That created the monster that we have now, and it's all about funding to universities and NGOs. Once it is revealed that CO2 lags behind warming as much as 800 years, they'll all lose their funding. CO2 doesn't cause warming, but warming causes a rise in CO2. The truth is just starting to be revealed.
The Communist Party, within the US, has had its fingers in union business for many years, going back to the thirties. They controlled the dock workers in California and were behind many strikes there. Will Geer, the elderly gay communist who played Grandpa Walton, along with his male communist lover, who dressed in a skirt, was arrested at one of those strikes. They were behind inciting the violence.
The communists and socialists in Britain and Europe are behind their union strikes and have been since the 1800s. They shut the energy industry down, using violence, to get their way. Those same caliber of people, in Germany, were behind forming Antifa in the thirties.
