@arthuridis Yes, but the auld Catholic Church stepped in and got into the lending business as well. They claimed it was to lower and regulate the interest rates, which they did, but they still kept loaning to the public.

You would be surprised at how many Americans do not understand what paper currency is. It's nothing but a note on the debt, which is handed out to divide and distribute the federal debt amongst the public. It's all borrowed money, and at this moment, the US will be lucky to pay the interest back on that debt, let alone, pay what is owed back. The only way to pay that, is using the left's favorite method, raise taxes.
