@nothankyou9906 Three things triggered WWI, Germany's expansionism, the Scramble for Africa, and Germany looking to get into the oil business in what became Iraq, and the oil in Baku. You are correct.
The US and UK were converting their navies from coal to oil, and Germany wanted to do that as well. Thus, they began building the Baghdad Railway through the Ottoman Empire, which would also bypass the Suez Canal, giving them another trade route. That was one of the reasons why the Ottomans sided with Germany, and it led to their demise.
The US and UK were trying to keep both Germany and Russia from expanding into the Middle-East over oil in both wars. It's why the African Campaign was important during WWII as well. This was what they called the "Great Game."
The reasons told to most of the public only have a small modicum of truth to it. The League of Nations and the UN were created over one reason, to stop war over trade and the exploitation of natural resources by the western allies. They hoped that treaties would nip wars in the bud, but in reality, both supranational organizations were started by the US and UK over their "national interests." That is the Anglo-American Establishment, or "deep state."
All the wars after WWII were about keeping Soviet and Russian influence north of a certain border, and away from the oil and gas business. In reality, then, it was about stopping Soviet expansionism, but they never mention the underlying reason.
The Baath Party was aligned with the Communists and Soviets, and that led to Saddam's removal. It's why Assad was targeted as well, and Iran the same. Iran was where BP was born, when it was the Persian Empire.
