Bernie, most likely, has one of his many homes in the Caribbean, specifically, in Cuba.
Economic rights are human rights in the sense that a man has a right to apply his craft to "earn" a living, which is exactly what the Jeffersonian Republican/Whig movement has pushed since day one, and it was also, in fact, for a limited government and anti-slavery. It was Alexander Hamilton, and the Federalists who were pushing for a big government, and they were deeply tied to the banks in the City of London, as well as the British government. Madison's Democrats, who were the French radicals, joined the Republican cause, forming the Democratic-Republican Party out of the Anti-Federalist or Republican Party.
What happened next, was the Democrats bringing in socialism, (state banks, state businesses, etc), and supporting slavery with the planters, which is why the Republicans broke away in 1828.
