That party turned into the Whig Party, and later, the GOP under Lincoln, who wasn't the man that they brag about him being. Lincoln was a backer of the Corwin Amendment and a pen pal to Marx. The Civil War was over much more than just slavery. It was over the Whigs and new GOP's overreaching government, their national bank, their Tariff of Abominations, their disregard for the strict reading of the Constitution, a standing army, and several other things. That is what led to the nullification efforts by the southern states, which were led by those such as Rep. John Randolph, who led the Old Republicans that backed Jackson. The Republican Party is not Jefferson's Republicans, it's Hamilton's big brother Federalists. This all revolves around the socialist sewer in New York, with Trotsky, and later, the New York Intellectuals who created the Neocons that came in with Nixon and the Rockefeller Republicans. They are trying to rewrite history, and hide the fact that socialism infected both political parties by the late 1800s, which created "progressivism." Jeffersonian Republicanism is still in a battle with Hamiltonian Federalism, and socialized Federalism is about to win.
